This number surprised me, I expected -180 or more in this game. Andy Pettitte OWNED the Brew Crew last year going 4-0 against them, and though he started out badly in his opener, has ripped off 2 straight wins and Houston looks to rough up youngster Capuano tonight, who has never won in Houston. In a battle of lefties tonight, the batting average also favors the Astro's, hitting a solid .333 against the southpaws this year to date. Houston has won 2 in a row against the Brewers in this series and I expect them to sweep tonight.

The Miami Heat rested both Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade in last night’s loss at Atlanta and both are expected to miss this game too. O’Neal and Wade are worth a combined 14.3 points and the absence of Alonzo Mourning is a negative too. Overall, I expect the Heat to play at a level 15.1 points below their norm in this game based on the on court/off court point differentials of the players sitting out tonight. Boston, meanwhile, is 6.9 points worse without Paul Pierce and Delonte West. My adjusted ratings combined with the appropriate home court advantage for a rested home team against an unrested visitor favors Boston by 7 points in this game – so the line is fair. Boston applies to a 32-9 ATS subset of a 232-135-3 ATS late-season situation while Miami applies to an 18-60-2 ATS unrested road team situation and a negative 81-136-4 ATS final week unrested road team situation. I’ll play Boston in a 2-Star Best Bet at –7 points or less.

Memphis will sit star Pau Gasol and play the rest of the starters under 30 minutes tonight to keep everyone fresh for the playoffs and Minnesota will once again be without star Kevin Garnett. Gasol is one of the best all-around players in the league and he’s worth 4.6 points based on his on court/off court stats while limiting the time of the other starters is worth a few points as well. Garnett, meanwhile, is among the most valuable players in the league and his value is calculated at 7.4 points, although Minnesota hasn’t played as poorly as expected in the last 5 games without Garnett. Overall, my adjusted ratings favor Memphis by 2.3 points, but the Grizzlies apply to a negative 81-136-4 ATS final week unrested road team situation while Minnesota applies to a 232-135-3 ATS late-season situation. I’ll take Minnesota at +2 points or more in a 2-Star Best Bet and will consider the Timberwolves an opinion at less than +2 points.
