Five Things You Need to Know in Sports

Want to start your sports day off right? Looking for some action and the most exciting matchups of the day? There are two days left in the baseball season. Here is a brief look at the top four important matchups of the day along with future odds.

1)Texas at Oakland, Ryan Dempster (7-3, 4.64 ERA) vs. A.J. Griffin (7-1, 2.71 ERA)

This was written before last night's game so we aren't exactly how much this game will mean but if Oakland wins, this is for the division. If not, Oakland is still play to host the wild card game as Baltimore is also facing Tampa Bay. Texas is 6-2 last 8 with Dempster starting. No line at press time.

2)Cincinnati at St. Louis, Homer Bailey (13-10, 3.75 ERA) vs. Adam Wainright (14-13, 3.94 ERA)

Here is another game that may not mean much after Tuesday's results. Cincinnati is basically playing for the best record and that just means home field throughout (including World Series since NL won All-Star Game). St. Louis was 2 games up on the Dodgers going into Tuesday's game. Cincinnati is 3-9 in Bailey's last 12 starts vs. St. Louis. No line at press time.

3)LA Angles at Seattle, Jered Weaver (20-4, 2.73 ERA) vs. Blake Beavan (10-11, 4.68 ERA)

The Angels could finish at 20 games over .500 and still not make the playoffs. What a disappointing season considering they might have the best player in the AL in rookie OF Mike Trout and the best pitcher in Weaver. Seattle just can't find quality hitters but they do have a strong pitching staff. Angels are 23-8 last 31 as a favorite. Angels opened as a -185 favorite with a total of 7.

4)Baltimore at Tampa Bay, Chris Tillman (9-2, 2.78) vs. Jeremy Hellickson (9-11, 3.20)

Baltimore lost game of this series, but Tampa Bay was knocked out of the playoff race because Oakland beat Texas. The Rays had a good season but just didn't have enough hitting. This just shows you that no matter how good your pitching staff is, you have to score some runs. Tillman may not go for the Orioles, as it depends on the situation. Baltimore is 7-3 Over last 10 on Wednesday. No line at press time.

5)Odds to Win Super Bowl XLVII

Houston remains on top after Week 4, while New England crushes Buffalo and San Francisco wins big on the road, and they are right behind the Texans. Chicago at +2000 is a pretty good sleeper right now. Here are the Super Bowl odds from 5dimes listed below.
