BoDog Sports Book and Casino has become the first sportsbook in the world to offer odds on the future footwear of the high school hoops phenomenon LeBron James.
James, expected to go first in the NBA Draft in June, will be eligible to sign an endorsement deal with the shoe company of his choice as soon as his high school team's basketball schedule is finished.
"We're the only sportsbook to offer odds on one of the most-talked about high school players ever," said Rob Gillespie, President of BoDog Sportsbook & Casino. "Already Nike and Adidas have both said they'll make every effort to have James wearing their shoes in the NBA. They're betting on it. Why not our players?"
Players are given the option to bet on Nike, Adidas and Field. Nike, at 1/2, is the favorite with Adidas paying 3/2.
"The kid wears #23 and has had private workouts with Michael Jordan," said Gillespie. "We had to make Nike the favorite: although, it's interesting to note that he's wearing a custom made pair of Adidas right now."
Knowing that high school kids can be fickle and prone to making unusual decisions, BoDog is also offering bettors the chance to bet on the long-shot.
"There is more than one shoe company out there that would love the chance to make a real splash by beating the two big companies, Nike and Adidas, to the punch, " said Rob Gillespie. "Puma or Fila come to mind and both of those count as a 'Field' bet."
This is the second time BoDog has offered a chance for the betting public to bet on the high school phenom. In December 2002, bettors were able to bet on James' scoring total in a nationally televised game.

I didn't know how much stuff they offered over there non-sports related till I was checking today. They have this, Grammy's Academy Awards, Survivor. Outside of maybe Carib, BoDog for sure has the best wagering package out there.
