Value. A simple word with a complex meaning. The Shock are 5-18 and in last place in the Eastern Conference. The Charlotte Sting are 14-10 tied for second in the Eastern Conference, and sport a 10-3 record at home. However, it's the Shock +9.5 that are offering value today, and here is our opinion of why: Detroit has won 4 of their 6 games, including quality wins over Washington, NY, and Miami. Yes, all of those wins came at home, but with those wins comes confidence. Let's not forget that in their last road game on 7/18, they had first place Washington all but beaten, until Vicky Bullett hit a miracle jump shot to push Washington into the lead with 15 seconds left in regulation. The Shock were also 9.5 point dogs in that game, and gave Washington all they could handle. Remember, when the oddsmakers set their lines, they are doing so with the public in mind. Well, you know what the public is going to say, "How the hell is last place Detroit going to beat Charlotte at home?". Well, they probably won't, but we're betting they're not going to lose by double-digits. We think the final will be more along the lines of 72 66. Good Luck.
