News and notes from Monday's games
By ASSOCIATED PRESS

SCOREBOARD Tuesday, April 15

Anaheim at Dallas (8:30 p.m. EDT). The Stars, who were eliminated in the first round each of the past three years are up 2-0 against the defending champion Ducks.

STARS Monday

-Pierre-Marc Bouchard, Wild, scored at 11:58 of overtime to give Minnesota its second straight 3-2 extra period win over Colorado and a 2-1 series lead.

-Marian Hossa, Penguins, had a goal and two assists as Pittsburgh beat Ottawa 4-1 to take a 3-0 lead in the Eastern Conference series.

COMEBACK

Jason Arnott scored with 3:58 left in the final period, the second Nashville goal in 9 seconds, and the Predators rallied to beat Detroit 5-3 Monday night and cut the Red Wings' series lead to 2-1. It was the first time Nashville outshot Detroit in 13 games.

HAPPY TO BE BACK

Nashville center David Legwand scored in his return to the lineup Monday night for Game 3 against Detroit after missing 14 straight games with a deep bone bruise on his left foot. The Predators won 5-3 to cut the Red Wings' series lead to 2-1.

TOO LATE

Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson was a surprising addition to the lineup Monday night for Game 3 against Pittsburgh, but didn't make a difference as the Senators fell behind 3-0 in games following a 4-1 loss. Alfredsson had not played since he was injured in Toronto on April 3 and had not practiced before taking the pre-game warmup.

SO LONG

Vancouver fired general manager Dave Nonis on Monday after missing the playoffs for the second time in his three seasons in charge. Nonis had been in the organization for six years as director of hockey operations when he took over general manager duties from Brian Burke just before the NHL lockout in 2004.

RULE CHANGE

Rangers forward Sean Avery's standing in front of a goalie waving his stick will not be allowed anymore as the NHL changed the rule to disallow it Monday. It will now result in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

SPECIAL TEAMS

In the first two games of the Western Conference series, Dallas scored on 6-for-13 power plays, while Anaheim was just 1-for-9. The Stars lead 2-0 with Game 3 Tuesday night in Dallas.

STATUS

Philadelphia defenseman Derian Hatcher said he's available to play Game 3 of the series against Washington on Tuesday night, his first action since breaking his leg on March 15.

SIGNING

Phoenix signed forward Kevin Porter, winner of the Hobey Baker Award as the nation's top college hockey player, on Monday. Porter, 22, completed his senior season at Michigan and was second in NCAA Division I scoring with 33 goals and 33 assists in 43 games. The Wolverines' captain finished his college career with 85 goals and 98 assists, and was captain of Team USA at the 2006 world junior championships.

SPEAKING

''If you're 30, you feel like you're 60 the next day. You just have to get your rest. We're doing the right things around here, getting lots of fluids and be as ready as can be for the next one.'' - Boston center Marc Savard after consecutive overtime games in different cities against Montreal over the weekend. The Canadiens lead the series 2-1.
