Maple Leafs captain Mats Sundin to miss rest of season
ASSOCIATED PRESS

TORONTO (AP) -Mats Sundin's season is over.

A groin tear will keep the Toronto Maple Leafs captain out of the final two games of the regular season, leaving open the possibility that he's played his last game for the franchise.

Sundin said Wednesday that the injury is still a problem.

''If it doesn't improve drastically, which I don't think it will, I don't think I'm going to play,'' Sundin said.

Sundin, who will become an unrestricted free agent July 1, said that he hasn't made any decision on his future. The 37-year-old center has repeatedly stated that he intends to retire as a member of the Maple Leafs - a team he's played for since 1994.

Interim general manager Cliff Fletcher has said that he hopes to bring Sundin back to Toronto for another year.

The Maple Leafs are tied with Florida for 11th place in the Eastern Conference with 83 points.

Sundin had 32 goals and 78 points in 74 games this season.
