Hurricanes activate Matt Cullen from injured reserve.
February 16, 2008

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -Carolina activated center Matt Cullen from the injured reserve Saturday night before the Hurricanes' game against the Florida Panthers.

Earlier in the day, they sent defenseman Joey Mormina back to their American Hockey League affiliate in Albany, N.Y.

Cullen, Carolina's third-line center and a key member of its power-play unit, missed seven games with distorted vision. He missed 16 of 22 games after he suffered a concussion when he was hit by New York Rangers forward Colton Orr on Dec. 26. He is fourth on the team with 39 points (nine goals, 30 assists).

Mormina was returned to the AHL two days after he made his NHL debut during the Hurricanes' 4-2 victory against Pittsburgh on Thursday night. He had four hits in 7:45 of ice time.
