-Martin Biron, Flyers, stopped all 38 shots he faced in a 4-0 win over New Jersey.
-Daymond Langkow, Flames, had two goals and an assist and Calgary edged Los Angeles 4-3.
-Nik Antropov, Maple Leafs, scored with 27.6 seconds to lift Toronto to a 3-2 win over Florida.
-Jason Spezza, Senators, scored the tiebreaking goal with 6:45 left in a 4-3 victory over Montreal.

FINALLY
Atlanta beat the New York Rangers 5-3 Thursday night for its first win of the season. The Thrashers started the campaign 0-6, costing coach Bob Hartley his job. General manager Don Waddell took over on an interim basis. ... Jason Spezza's first goal of the season broke a third-period tie and sent Ottawa to a 4-3 win over Montreal. Spezza entered the game third in league scoring with 11 points, all assists.
ANOTHER SHUTOUT
Martin Biron posted his second straight shutout on Thursday night by stopping 38 shots in a 4-0 win over New Jersey. The last Flyers goalie to accomplish the feat was Brian Boucher in 2001. Philadelphia hadn't shut out the Devils at home since 1987, when it played at the Spectrum.
MILESTONE NIGHT
Calgary's Daymond Langkow had two goals and assist, including his 200th career tally and 500th point, in a 4-3 win over Los Angeles on Thursday night. It marked the seventh consecutive game to start the season that a Flames player scored two goals, breaking a record held by the Ottawa Senators, who accomplished the feat in 1917 and 1920.
RUDE HOSTS
Boston improved to 20-2-6 against Tampa Bay at home after Thursday night's 4-1 win. The Bruins have beaten the Lightning five straight times overall.
FIRSTS
Nick Foligno scored his first NHL goal in Ottawa's 4-3 win over Montreal on Thursday night. As a tribute to his father, the 19-year-old rookie mimicked former NHL player Mike Foligno's signature goal celebration, bringing up his knees and jumping as he leaned forward clenching both fists. ... Matt Ellis' first NHL goal in the third period proved to be the game-winner in Detroit's 4-2 win at San Jose.
CAP-SIZING
Washington has lost three straight following its 3-0 start after a 5-2 setback to the New York Islanders on Thursday night.
SIDELINED
Atlanta goalie Kari Lehtonen left a game against the New York Rangers in the first period Thursday night, appearing to have re-injured his troublesome groin. Johan Hedberg took over and earned the victory in the 5-3 win.
SPEAKING
''That was the plan. Get him cold.'' - Philadelphia center Danny Briere on the Flyers failing to record a shot on New Jersey goalie Martin Brodeur in the 7 1/2 minutes of the game before escaping with a 4-0 win on Thursday night.

Columbus Blue Jackets at Buffalo Sabres
The Blue Jackets (2-2-1) have been outscored 8-3 while losing both of their road games this season. At home, though, Columbus has picked up five of a possible six points after falling to Dallas 3-2 in a shootout on Wednesday.
Carolina Hurricanes at Pittsburgh Penguins
Cam Ward is 6-2-0 in eight starts career versus the Penguins. He recorded 33 saves against them in Carolina's 4-1 victory at home on Oct. 5. The Hurricanes have won five of their last six contests against Pittsburgh, and eight of the last 12 meetings at Mellon Arena.
Colorado Avalanche at Chicago Blackhawks
Paul Stastny ranks among the league leaders with five goals, eight assists and 13 points in six games. He already has a hat trick, a five-point game and a three-assist game this season.
Los Angeles Kings at Vancouver Canucks
The Kings look to avoid opening with four straight road losses for the first time in 38 years when they visit the Vancouver Canucks on Friday night.
Thrashers place Lehtonen on IR

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Thrashers announced Friday that they have placed goaltender Kari Lehtonen on injured reserve with a groin injury.
Lehtonen started between the pipes in Thursday's victory over the New York Rangers, but left in the first period with a groin strain and was replaced by Johan Hedberg for the remainder of the contest.
The Thrashers win over the Rangers was their first of the season and came a day after Bob Hartley was fired as head coach.
Lehtonen has struggled for Atlanta this season with no victories in five games. The Finnish netminder also has a robust 4.49 goals-against average and .879 save percentage.
In a related roster move, the Thrashers recalled goaltender Ondrej Pavelec from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.
Pavelec was selected in the second round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by Atlanta.
