Hockey Today

Pittsburgh at N.Y. Rangers (7 p.m. EDT). The Penguins and Rangers complete their home-and-home series.

STARS

-Marian Gaborik, Wild, scored twice, including the winner in overtime, and Minnesota edged Colorado 3-2.

-Dominik Hasek and Johan Franzen, Red Wings. Hasek stopped 22 shots and Franzen scored with 1:39 left in overtime to give Detroit a 1-0 win over Nashville.

-Mathieu Schneider, Ducks, scored two goals in regulation and Anaheim defeated Dallas 3-2 in a shootout.

-Andrej Sekera, Sabres, scored 39 seconds into overtime to lift Buffalo over Boston 2-1.

-Joe Thornton, Sharks, scored two goals in the first period of San Jose's 3-1 win over Phoenix.

-Trevor Linden, Canucks, broke open a tie game with two goals in the second period to help Vancouver rout Calgary 6-2.

SUPER MARIAN

Marian Gaborik scored his second goal of the game in overtime and Minnesota celebrated clinching a playoff spot with a 3-2 victory over Colorado on Sunday. Detroit beat Nashville minutes before Minnesota took the ice, which sent the Wild to its second straight playoff berth. The game-winner was Gaborik's career-high 40th goal and his franchise-record 80th point.

KANE IS ABLE

Patrick Kane scored the only goal in a shootout and tallied an assist in Chicago's 5-4 victory over Columbus on Sunday. The assist was Kane's 48th of the season, breaking the Blackhawks rookie record set by coach Denis Savard (1980-81) and Steve Larmer ('82-83).

SNAPPED

Dan Ellis made 35 saves but had his franchise-record 233 minute, 39 second shutout streak end in Nashville's 1-0 overtime loss to Detroit on Sunday.

TWICE AS NICE

Trevor Linden notched his first two-goal game since Feb. 25, 2003 in Vancouver's 6-2 win over Calgary on Sunday.

HOT

Johan Franzen scored in overtime to help Detroit edge Nashville 1-0 on Sunday and has 14 goals and four assists in his past 13 games. ... David Krejci scored in Boston's 2-1 loss to Buffalo, extending his point streak to four games. The rookie center has eight points over that stretch (three goals, five assists). ... Marc-Andre Fleury turned aside 26 shots to earn his seventh straight win in Pittsburgh's 3-1 victory over the New York Rangers.

HANGING IN THERE

Ryan Miller stopped 17 shots and Andrej Sekera scored in overtime to lead Buffalo past Boston 2-1 on Sunday and keep alive the Sabres' threadbare playoff hopes. Toni Lydman also scored for Buffalo, which would have been eliminated from contention with a loss. With 86 points and three games left, the Sabres remain in 10th place in the East, five points out of a playoff spot.

SHARK BITE

San Jose eliminated Phoenix from playoff contention with a 3-1 victory on Sunday. The Sharks have earned a point in every game since Feb. 20 while rolling to the third Pacific Division title in franchise history. They have 36 points in their past 19 games, including three straight wins since an overtime loss at Phoenix on Tuesday.

SPEAKING

``I had no idea. It's probably the only record I'm going to break. I'm sorry I had to spoil his birthday. It was the last day I could do it, too.'' - Detroit Johan Franzen, after his record sixth game-winning goal of the month lifted the Red Wings over Nashville 1-0 on Sunday. Franzen broke the previous franchise mark held by Henrik Zetterberg and Gordie Howe, who was honored in a pregame ceremony on the eve of his 80th birthday.
