Hockey Today

Philadelphia at Montreal (7 p.m. EDT). The Flyers need one more win to advance to their second conference final in four seasons.

Sunday, May 4

San Jose at Dallas (9 p.m. EDT). The Sharks have won two straight after dropping the first three games of this semifinal series.

STAR

-Joe Pavelski, Sharks, scored 65 seconds into overtime and San Jose rallied to beat Dallas 3-2.

STILL ALIVE

San Jose avoided elimination for the second straight time by rallying for a 3-2 overtime win over Dallas on Friday night. The Sharks, who lost the series' first three games in five days, is just the fourth team in the last 20 seasons to stretch a series even to six games after trailing 0-3. Only two teams in NHL history have recovered from such dire circumstances to win a series: the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1942 and the New York Islanders in 1975.

PRICE IS RIGHT

Carey Price will be in net when Montreal takes on Philadelphia in Game 5 of the semifinals Saturday night at the Bell Centre. Price was replaced for the third period of Game 4 by Jaroslav Halak, who made his first career playoff start Wednesday, a 3-2 loss in Philadelphia. The Flyers lead the series 3-1.

DON'T SCORE FIRST

The team that scored first in all five games of the Dallas-San Jose semifinal series has gone on to lose. The Stars held a two-goal lead heading into the third period of Friday night's game, but lost 3-2 in overtime. Dallas now leads the series three games to two.

SURGERY

Minnesota's Marian Gaborik had minor arthroscopic surgery on his right hip on Friday to relieve ``irritation'' that bothered him for most of the season. The team expects Gaborik to be ready for training camp.

SPEAKING

``I'm going to take some time to think about it, discuss it with my family. I haven't made up my mind and I'll make it up when it's time.'' - Colorado captain Joe Sakic on whether he will return for a 20th season after the Avalanche were swept in the semifinals by Detroit on Thursday.
