LEAGUE LEADERS
Martin Gerber stopped 36 shots for his league-leading 13th win in 15 starts and Ottawa defeated Montreal 4-2 on Monday. ... Ilya Kovalchuk scored his NHL-best 17th goal for Atlanta in a 4-3 victory over Tampa Bay.
ISLANDERS MILESTONES
Rick DiPietro earned his 100th NHL victory with an 18-save effort and the New York Islanders beat the New York Rangers 2-1 on Monday. The Islanders, whose last seven games were all decided by one goal and in regulation, now have 500 road wins in franchise history.
FIVE ALIVE!
Todd White scored a power-play goal with 2:11 left in overtime to push Atlanta past Tampa Bay 4-3 on Monday. The Thrashers improved to 5-0 in overtime this season.
OTT THAT OFTEN
Steve Ott scored a rare goal in Dallas' 3-0 victory over Los Angeles on Monday. Ott, known more as a checker and instigator, notched the 12th of his career in 214 games to put the Stars in front late in the second period.
STREAKING
Vincent Lecavalier had a goal and an assist in Tampa Bay's 4-3 loss to Atlanta on Monday to extend his multipoint streak to eight games, longest in the NHL since Jaromir Jagr had 10 straight for Pittsburgh from Feb. 18-March 9, 1996. ... St. Louis beat Nashville 2-1 and has now won four straight. The Blues have killed 19 consecutive penalties. ... Dallas beat Los Angeles 3-0 for its 10th straight home win against the Kings.
SNAPPED
The New York Islanders ended the New York Rangers' winning streak at five with a 2-1 win on Monday. The Rangers came home after a four-game road sweep and had won nine of 10, but are 0-3 against the Islanders. ... Florida beat Washington 4-3 Monday to end a four-game road losing streak.
STRUGGLING
Washington fell to Florida 4-3 on Monday and has now lost four straight. The Capitals are just 2-6 at home. ... Dallas shut down Los Angeles 3-0, leaving the Kings 0-3-1 in their past four.
ROBINSON RETIRED
Larry Robinson had his No. 19 retired by Montreal in a ceremony prior to Monday's game against Ottawa. A six-time Stanley Cup champion in 17 seasons with the Canadiens from 1972-89, the 6-foot-4 defenseman known as ''Big Bird'' won the Norris Trophy as the league's best defenseman twice, in 1976-77 and 1979-80. The Hall of Famer, currently a New Jersey assistant coach, became the 13th Montreal player to have his number retired by the team
TRADES
Dallas acquired defenseman Bryce Lampman from Tampa Bay on Monday, the first trade by the Stars since making Brett Hull a co-general manager along with Les Jackson. The Stars sent defenseman Mario Scalzo the Lightning. ... Anaheim acquired center Brian Sutherby from Washington for a second-round draft pick in 2009. The 25-year-old Sutherby has one goal in five games for the Capitals this season.
SUSPENDED
Montreal forward Tom Kostopoulos was suspended for Monday night's game against Ottawa after sparking an altercation in the final minute of a fight-filled 7-4 win over Boston on Saturday. The league also fined Canadiens coach Guy Carbonneau $10,000, which is automatic if a player gets an instigator penalty in the last five minutes of a game.

Boston (9-7-2) won the first matchup between these teams in their eight-game season series, beating the Leafs 5-2 on Thursday night at TD Banknorth Garden. The five goals were the second-most this season for the Bruins, who ended a string of five straight games with two goals or fewer.
Vancouver at Edmonton
The Canucks have won four straight in Edmonton behind Roberto Luongo, their longest run at Rexall Place since winning five in a row there from Jan. 5, 2002-Dec. 20, 2003.
Colorado at Calgary
Colorado has taken the first three matchups this season, most recently defeating the Flames 4-1 at Denver on Nov. 5.
Stars make first trade with GM Hull, get Lampman from Tampa Bay

DALLAS -- Dallas acquired defenseman Bryce Lampman from Tampa Bay on Monday, the first trade by the Stars since firing their general manager last week and making Brett Hull a co-general manager.
The Stars sent defenseman Mario Scalzo to Tampa Bay.
Lampman will report to the Iowa Stars, the team's primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League.
Originally a fourth-round pick by the New York Rangers in 2001, Lampman skated in 10 games with the Rangers over three seasons before being traded to Tampa Bay in July. He appeared in 16 games for Norfolk of the AHL this season, and had six points and four penalty minutes.
Dallas fired GM Doug Armstrong on Nov. 13, then named Hull and Les Jackson interim co-GMs for the remainder of the season.
Ducks acquire center Sutherby from Capitals for draft pick

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The defending Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks acquired center Brian Sutherby from the Washington Capitals on Monday for a second-round draft pick in the 2009 NHL entry draft.
The 25-year-old Sutherby has one goal in five games for the Capitals this season. He recorded 26 goals and 35 assists in 259 NHL games over six seasons with Washington. He established career bests in the 2005-06 season with 14 goals and 16 assists in 76 games.
The Capitals made Sutherby the 26th overall pick in the 2000 entry draft.
Going into rematch with Wild, Canucks call up winger Brown

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -The Vancouver Canucks sent speedy forward Jannik Hansen to Manitoba of the American Hockey League and called up tough winger Mike Brown on Monday.
Brown has three points and 69 penalty minutes in 17 AHL games this season, after the 22-year-old finished last season with three points and a team-high 194 penalty minutes. The 6-foot, 210-pound winger had one assist, two fights and 32 penalty minutes in five NHL preseason games this season.
The timing is notable because Vancouver plays in Edmonton on Tuesday before traveling to Minnesota to play the Wild on Wednesday, a rematch of a game on Friday that was filled with animosity.
Minnesota forward Mikko Koivu elbowed Canucks defenseman Mattias Ohlund in the face, and ended up with a cracked bone in his left leg after Ohlund retaliated with a two-handed slash to the back of Koivu's leg. Ohlund won't play Wednesday after the NHL handed down a four-game suspension Sunday, but his wasn't the only controversial play in the game.
``I think there was some plays leading up to my incident that should have been handled maybe differently, Ohlund said while addressing his suspension on Sunday night.
Ohlund said the NHL should have reviewed Marian Gaborik's elbow to Ryan Kesler's head, which was penalized with a 2-minute minor.
And several Canucks were upset after Minnesota forward Stephane Veilleux appeared to shoot a puck at defenseman Mike Weaver as the game was winding down. Veilleux denied doing so, but there's no question this Northwest Division rivalry is getting heated again.
``Mattias wasn't overly happy with an elbow to the head and I also know that it wasn't the first time during the course of the game that it occurred,'' general manager Dave Nonis said.
The Wild were upset with the slash on Koivu, one of their best forwards.
And Minnesota's 6-foot-7, 258-pound enforcer Derek Boogaard took exception to the apparent mistreatment of his star teammates by several Canucks.
``Their so-called agitators were taking liberties,'' he said. ``As soon as I stepped on the ice, they just sort of spread out and scattered to their holes almost. They don't want to come near me or talk to me. But they think they can slash and stick and punch our skill guys. I'm not going to stand for it.''
Boogaard, who was out of Friday's game with a misconduct when Koivu was slashed, talked about getting to play against Canucks captain Markus Naslund and top forwards Daniel and Henrik Sedin.
``Maybe I can go after, or check Naslund and those Pinky and the Brain twins,'' Boogaard said.
