Hurricanes activate forward Erik Cole from injured reserve
ASSOCIATED PRESS

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Erik Cole is set to rejoin the Carolina Hurricanes after missing four games with a neck injury.

The Hurricanes are activating the 29-year-old winger from injured reserve and assigning Ryan Bayda to their American Hockey League team in Albany.

The Hurricanes beat Tampa Bay 4-3 on Friday night.

Cole was taken from the ice on a stretcher after colliding with Florida Panthers goalie Tomas Vokoun on Nov. 12.

The veteran of six NHL seasons is less than two years removed from a serious neck injury. Cole fractured a vertebra on March 2006, when he was hit from behind by Pittsburgh's Brooks Orpik.
