Jesse Boulerice, who last week was given the longest single-season suspension in NHL history for hitting a player in the face with his stick, was placed on waivers by Philadelphia on Monday. The 29-year-old Boulerice was suspended 25 games by the league for cross-checking Vancouver's Ryan Kesler in the face on Wednesday. Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said the decision was based on the team's need for more roster space while dealing with injuries.
Toronto blew a two-goal lead for the second straight game on Monday night, allowing four third-period goals and another in overtime for a 5-4 loss at Buffalo. The Maple Leafs were up by two Saturday before Pittsburgh stormed back for a 6-4 win.
Joe Pavelski, Joe Thornton and Jonathan Cheechoo scored in a 3:20 span early in the third period to break open a tie game and lift San Jose to a 4-2 victory at Vancouver on Monday night.

The NHL Players' Association officially nominated former assistant U.S. attorney Paul Kelly on Monday for its executive director position. The five-player search committee interviewed a long list of candidates before narrowing it to three. NFL Players Association lawyer Richard Berthelsen, and Bill Gregson, president and CEO of sports store chain Forzani Group, were the other finalists with Kelly.

Ducks' Bertuzzi out at least a week because of concussion

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Anaheim Ducks right winger Todd Bertuzzi was placed on the injured list Monday because of a concussion sustained a night earlier against Minnesota.
He is expected to be out at least a week, the team said.
Bertuzzi signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the Ducks during the offseason, leaving the Detroit Red Wings.
He is coming off an injury-plagued season, having played in only 15 games last season with Florida and Detroit because of a back injury.
Bertuzzi was suspended in March 2004 for sucker-punching Steve Moore of the Colorado Avalanche during a game. He missed the rest of that season and the playoffs. He was reinstated after the lockout that wiped out the 2004-05 season.

Senators ink C Robitaille

Ottawa, ON (Sports Network) - The Ottawa Senators signed center Randy Robitaille to a one-year contract Tuesday.
Robitaille was recently released from the Yaroslavl Lokomotiv in Russia and must clear waivers before playing for the Senators.
In 14 games with the Lokomotiv this season, Robitaille had three goals and six assists.
In 10 NHL seasons, the 32-year-old Ottawa native has collected 227 points (74 goals, 153 assists) in 463 career with the Boston Bruins, Nashville Predators, Los Angeles Kings, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Islanders, Minnesota Wild, Atlanta Thrashers and Philadelphia Flyers.
Kings activate Aubin

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Kings activated goaltender Jean-Sebastien Aubin from the injured reserve list Monday.
Aubin has been out the entire season with a groin injury. The Kings are just 1-5 so far this season, allowing 26 goals during their current five-game losing streak.
The 30-year-old netminder signed with the club in the offseason. In 199 career NHL games, he has a 75-77-11-4 record, seven shutouts and a 2.91 goals- against-average for Toronto and Pittsburgh.
In addition, the Kings assigned forward Brady Murray to Manchester of the American Hockey League and returned goaltender Jonathan Bernier to Lewiston of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
"We feel the decision to return Jonathan to the Quebec League is the best means to ensure that Jonathan reaches his potential," Kings president and general manager Dean Lombardi said of Bernier. "This young man is 19 years old and if he continues to mature properly he has a bright future ahead of him."
The 19-year-old Bernier played in four games this season and went 1-3-0 with a 4.03 goals-against-average.
Murray, 23, also played in four games for the Kings, scoring one goal and recording six penalty minutes.
