HAPPY RETURNS
Oiler forward Dustin Penner, who helped the Ducks win the Stanley Cup last season, returned to face his former teammates for the first time Sunday night as Edmonton beat the defending champs 3-2 in a shootout. Penner, who was presented with his Stanley Cup ring by Ducks owners Henry and Susan Samueli and general manager Brian Burke after the game in coach Randy Carlyle's office, was lured away from Anaheim with a five-year, $21.25 million offer sheet that Burke declined to match.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME
Colorado posted a 3-1 win over Minnesota Sunday night. The win improved the Avalanche to 5-0 at home for the first time since moving to Colorado in 1995.
SCORING
Detroit left wing Henrik Zetterberg extended his lead atop the NHL scoring list to 21 points with an assist in the Red Wings' 3-2 win over Vancouver Sunday night. Zetterberg, second on the team in scoring (68) despite missing 19 games to injury, Zetterberg has a point in all 12 games this season. Zetterberg's linemate, center Pavel Datsyuk, who also had an assist against the Canucks, extended his point streak to seven games (2 goals, 7 assists).

Tampa Bay Lightning at New York Rangers
Ten games into the season, the Rangers have scored an NHL-low 16 goals. The one constant for the Rangers has been Henrik Lundqvist, who ranks fourth in the NHL with a 1.90 goals-against average while playing all 10 games.
This is the first of three straight road games for the Lightning (5-3-1), who have been outscored 15-8 in losing all three games away from home.
Washington Capitals at Toronto Maple Leafs
Toronto (5-4-3) has won two straight - both on the road - after winning just once in its previous five games (1-2-2). The Leafs are 5-2-0 with one tie in its last eight home games against Washington.
The Capitals (4-6-0) hope to avoid their second three-game losing streak of the season. They have dropped six of seven after opening the season with three straight wins.
San Jose Sharks at Dallas Stars
The Stars went 5-3-0 against the Sharks in 2006-07, but the teams split four meetings at Dallas.
The Sharks have dropped their last two games, scoring only one goal in each contest.
Sharks lose Ryane Clowe to injury, recall Devin Setoguchi

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- The San Jose Sharks placed forward Ryane Clowe and defenseman Rob Davison on injured reserve Sunday.
The Sharks recalled forwards Devin Setoguchi and Lukas Kaspar from their AHL affiliate in Worcester to take their place.
Clowe has three goals, three assists and 20 penalty minutes in 11 games with the Sharks this season. He had an assist on Joe Thornton's goal in San Jose's 2-1 loss at Columbus on Saturday night, but was diagnosed with a knee injury afterward, and the Sharks didn't immediately announce a timetable for his return.
Davison sprained a finger on his left hand during a fight with Detroit's Aaron Downey on Friday night. The reserve defenseman is scoreless in five appearances for San Jose this season.
Setoguchi, the former No. 8 overall draft pick, could make his NHL debut Monday night at Dallas. Setoguchi made the Sharks' roster out of training camp, but injured his ankle and was sent to Worcester before playing a game with San Jose.
Kaspar, a first-round pick in 2004, has two points in six games with Worcester.
Bruins captain released from hospital

BOSTON (AP) -Patrice Bergeron was released from the hospital Sunday, one day after the Boston Bruins forward sustained a concussion and broke his nose when he was smashed into the boards from behind by Philadelphia's Randy Jones.
Team spokesman Matt Chmura confirmed that Bergeron was discharged Sunday from Massachusetts General Hospital but declined to provide other details. Chmura said that Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli might speak to reporters Monday to discuss how long Bergeron will be out of action.
The 22-year-old center was hammered to the boards face-first by Jones in the first period of Philadelphia's 2-1 victory over the Bruins.
Bergeron lost consciousness, was transported from the ice on a stretcher and was taken to the hospital where team physician, Dr. Bertram Zarins, diagnosed him with a concussion and a broken nose.
No other serious injuries to Bergeron's head or neck were revealed by tests.
