Betting news, trends, odds and predictions from various handicappers and websites for Monday 4/29/19
There is only one game scheduled in the Stanley Cup playoffs on Monday, April 29, as the Round 2 series between the St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars shifts to Texas. The series is tied at 1-1.
Featured Game
Louis Blues (-105) vs. Dallas Stars (-115)
The Dallas Stars got 32 saves from goaltender Ben Bishop and Roope Hintz added two goals and an assist for the Dallas Stars in their 4-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues in Game 2. Hintz and Miro Heiskanen gave Dallas a 2-0 lead before St. Louis cut the deficit in half on a goal from Colton Payayko at the 14:25 mark of the first period. However, just 26 seconds later Mattias Janmark extended the lead back to two and Hintz would add an empty net goal with three seconds left in the contest for the victory. That evened the series at 1-1.
Goaltending Matchup:
Jordan Binnington stopped 31 of 34 shots he faced, and looked solid, but was not as stellar as he was in Game 1. Binnington has now allowed five goals on 63 shots in the series and has a 2.61 goals-against average and a .911 in his eight playoff games this year.
Ben Bishop rebounded from a rather mediocre performance in Game 1 by stopping 32 of 34 shots he faced. Considering that both goaltenders faced 34 shots, that one extra save proved to be the difference in this contest. The Dallas goaltender has a 2.05 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage through his first eight playoff games this year.

Prediction
If there is one thing that we have learned through the first two games of this series, is that everyone is going to be a nail-biter. This is what playoff hockey is all about, as every goal is a game changer in the series. If Game 3 is anything like the first two games, this is going to be a great contest. We expect this to continue to be tight checking, as neither team is particularly adept at scoring, but both play well defensively and have outstanding goaltending. Dallas goes home looking to go up in the series, and we expect that to happen.
The total is set at 5.0 for this contest. It went over in the last game and was a push in Game 1, but we don`t expect the high-scoring affair here. Game 2 would have been a push as well had Hintz not added that goal with three seconds left in the contest. Five is a pretty magical number in this series, but we look for the exact same thing in Game 3 as in what happened in Game 2, that an empty net goal makes the over the choice. Take the Dallas Stars to win, 4-2.99999
