It’s Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Tuesday when the Dallas Stars take on the St. Louis Blues. The winner will advance to the Western Conference finals. These two teams last met in a Game 7 three years ago, a contest won by the Blues.

Featured Game

Dallas Stars (-125) vs. St. Louis Blues (+104)

The St. Louis Blues forced a Game 7 with a decisive 4-1 victory over the Stars in Dallas. This has been a series that has not favored the home team, as the road team has won four of the first six games. The Blues completely dominated most of Game 6. With the scored tied at one after the first, David Perron gave St. Louis the lead with his third goal of the playoffs. The Blues would add two more goals in the third to earn the victory. Jaden Schwartz finished with a goal and an assist.

Goaltending Matchup:

Ben Bishop found himself out of the net briefly for Dallas after giving up four goals on 20 shots. He has allowed 16 total goals through the first six games of the series. Bishop has a 2.32 goals-against average and a .929 through the first 12 games of the playoffs for Dallas this year.

After suffering a tough loss in Game 6 where he allowed two goals, Jordan Binnington was absolutely brilliant, stopping 22 of the 23 shots he faced. Binnington has allowed 15 total goals for the first six games of the series. He has a 2.59 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage through his first 12 playoff games.

Stat Pack:

Stars:
Goals For: 2.83
Goals Against: 2.33
Power-Play: 22.2%
Penalty Killing: 94.3%

Blues:
Goals For: 2.67
Goals Against: 2.67
Power-Play: 17.9%
Penalty Killing: 76.0%

Trends to Know

Dallas Stars are:

6-3 in their last eight games.
11-4 in their last 15 games on the road.
6-3 in their last nine games against Western Conference teams.

St. Louis Blues are:

16-6 in their last 22 games at home.
15-7 in their last 22 games.
17-8 in their last 25 games against teams with a winning record.

Prediction

This has been a very difficult series to predict. Just when one team seems like they have momentum going for them, the other team winds up snatching it away and earning a victory. It would be easy to suspect that St. Louis will win this game because they are at home, but the home-ice advantage has met little in this series. The only factor that really seems to be any kind of determinant is how well Binnington has been playing in the last two contests, and we believe that he will be the deciding factor.

The total is set at 5.0. This is going to be one of those kinds of contests where each team is going to be playing trying to ensure they don’t make a mistake. That creates a tight-checking game that keeps it low-scoring, which we expect to hear. Look for the St. Louis Blues to take a 2-1 lead, get a late empty net goal, and win 3-1.
