Mike Modano scored his 534th career goal in Dallas’ 6-3 loss to Chicago on Thursday night, extending his record for U.S.-born players. … Florida’s Michael Frolik scored his first NHL goal in the Panthers’ 3-1 loss to New Jersey. … Vancouver beat Minnesota 3-2 to improve to 6-0-2 in its last eight games.

SURGERY

Anaheim defenseman Francois Beauchemin had surgery Thursday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. He’s expected to be sidelined about six months. … St. Louis defenseman Erik Johnson, out for the season after injuring his knee during a preseason team golf outing, had surgery to fix a damaged ligament.

SCOUTING

Cory Schneider made 22 saves for his franchise-record 10th consecutive victory, and Mark Cullen scored three goals to help the Manitoba Moose (Canucks) beat the San Antonio Rampage (Coyotes) 5-2 on Thursday night in the AHL.

Phoenix Coyotes vs. Carolina Hurricanes

Shane Doan and Zbynek Michalek found the back of the net for Phoenix in its 3-2 shootout loss to Chicago on Tuesday night.
