Vancouver at New York Islanders (7 p.m. EST). Vancouver beat Toronto 4-2 on Saturday night to finish 4-1-1 on a six-game homestand. New York is coming off consecutive victories over Ottawa, the last a 3-2 home decision Saturday night.

— Joffrey Lupul and Antero Niittymaki, Flyers. Lupul scored the go-ahead goal in the third period, and Niittymaki made 29 saves to improve to 11-0 against Atlanta in Philadelphia’s 4-3 victory.

— Jonas Hiller, Ducks, made 29 saves for his first NHL shutout in Anaheim’s 2-0 victory over Los Angeles.

— Alexei Kovalev, Canadiens, scored the lone shootout goal in Montreal’s 3-2 victory in St. Louis.

— Devin Setoguchi, Sharks, scored a power-play goal with 4:15 left to give San Jose a 6-5 victory in Chicago.

Philadelphia beat Atlanta 4-3 on Sunday night to snap the Thrashers’ five-game winning streak. … Montreal was 0-for-10 on the power play in its 3-2 victory over St. Louis and has scored twice in its last 36 chances.

Rick Tocchet lost his first game as Tampa Bay’s coach, a 3-2 shootout loss to Carolina. Tocchet became a head coach for the first time when Barry Melrose was fired Friday. A veteran of 18 NHL seasons, Tocchet perhaps is best known for his role in a sports betting ring that led to a league suspension.

SWAP

Darryl Sydor returned to the Dallas Stars on Sunday in a trade of veteran defensemen that sent Philippe Boucher to the Pittsburgh Penguins. The 36-year-old Sydor played with Dallas from 1995-2003, helping the Stars win the Stanley Cup in 1998-99.

SCOUTING

Ryan Russell scored three goals—two short-handed—to help the Hamilton Bulldogs (Canadiens) beat the Rochester Americans (Panthers) 5-2 on Sunday in the American Hockey League. Matt D’Agostini also had a short-handed goal for the Bulldogs.

Vancouver Canucks vs. New York Islanders

The Canucks got four goals on just 15 total shots to down the Maple Leafs 4-2 at General Motors Place Saturday.

Vancouver won as a -162 home favorite while the final score played over the the 5.5-goal total.

The Islanders swept the Senators in a two-game, home-away series with a 3-2 victory at Nassau Coliseum Saturday night.

New York won as a +147 home underdog. The final score played under the 5.5-goal total.

Edmonton vs. Detroit

Tough to go against Detroit on any given night and even harder when they've won their last 2 games by 1 goal. In fact, when the Red Wings are at home, won their last 2 games by 1-goal, they are 7-1 (SU) the L5Y and 14-4 (SU) since '96. When DETROIT team Played as Home team as a Favorite - Before a non division game - Total is 5.5 - Allowed 2 or less goals AGAINST in their last game - Coming off a 2 game Road stand; The Red Wings are 7-3 (SU) in this role since '96.

Prediction: Detroit 4 Edmonton 2
