SCOREBOARD

Monday, Nov. 24

Phoenix at N.Y. Rangers (7 p.m. EST). Coyotes coach Wayne Gretzky returns to Madison Square Garden, the site of the final game of his Hall of Fame playing career that ended in 1999 when he was with the Rangers.

STARS

Sunday

— Dainius Zubrus, Devils, tied a team record with four goals in New Jersey’s 7-4 win over Tampa Bay.

— Shea Weber and Jason Arnott, Predators, each scored a pair of goals in Nashville’s 5-2 win over Carolina.

HAT TRICK, AND ONE

Dainius Zubrus did one better than a hat trick Sunday afternoon, scoring twice in the third period for four total goals in the Devils’ 7-3 victory over Tampa Bay. Zubrus entered the season with just two goals, but got his third at 7:22 and fourth with 5:22 left to play.

POWER OUTAGE

Carolina went 0-for-5 on the power play in the first period of a 5-2 loss to Nashville, including almost 2 minutes worth of 5-on-3 play. The Predators took advantage of their chances, using Jason Arnott’s goal on a 2-on-1 chance to take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. ^AILING

Lightning starting goalie Mike Smith didn’t play due to an undisclosed lower-body injury. Olaf Kolzig replaced him. … The Devils’ John Madden (left foot) missed his second straight game. … Carolina defenseman Tim Gleason suffered a lower-body injury in the second period and didn’t return for the final 20 minutes against Nashville. Carolina right wing Patrick Eaves also left with what appeared to be an upper-body injury. ^SPEAKING

“The guys see the penalty killers doing a great job out there and really sacrificing their bodies. To come out of two 5-on-3s and not give up a goal is pretty rare, so we were fortunate.”—Shea Weber, who had two goals and helped Nashville kill eight power plays in a 5-2 win over Carolina.

NHL Hockey Forecast - Nov 24th 2008
by Ron Raymond

Phoenix vs. NY Rangers

The Coyotes are 3-7 SU on the road this season and it won't get any easier this evening, as the Rangers are desperate for a win themselves and they will use home ice advantage tonight to get that right line matchup. The Coyotes are 1-5 SU at MSG and Lundqvist is the better goaltender in this spot. When NY RANGERS team Played as Home team as a Favorite - After a non division game - Scored 1 or less goals FOR in their last game - Coming off a 2 game losing streak; The Rangers are 12-3 (SU) in this spot since '97.

Prediction: NYR 3 Phoenix 2

Dallas vs. Philadelphia

When it rains it pours and right now the Dallas Stars have some major decisions to make on and off the ice. Number #1, they need to find a General Manager with experience, having broadcasters and ex-players like Brett Hull making major decisions in organization is nothing but a PR stunt and it backfires 9 out of 10 times. As far as I'm concern, you have to go with either Avery or Ott, can't put both in the line up, just screws up the chemistry of the team and with the Flyers line up, this could be a good one tonight! As TO would say, get your popcorn ready! When PHILADELPHIA team played as a home team - Last 4 years - Total is 5.5 - Coming off a Home win as a Favorite; The Flyers are 9-2 SU in this role L4Y.

Prediction: Philadelphia 4 Dallas 1

NY Islanders vs. Montreal

Montreal's big guns on offense have been silent and Price is the only reason why they are not getting blown out! Carbonneau is mixing the lines too much and there's no consistency from the Habs this season. The Islanders are a gritty team and they will outwork their opponents most nights. Plus, coming off Patrick Roy night and losing the Boston, could be a flat spot for Montreal.

Prediction: NYI 3 Montreal 2

Carolina vs. Florida

The Canes are coming off a home lost last night and they are 7-3 SU after a lost this season. Plus, when CAROLINA team played as a Road team - Vs Division Opponent - Coming off a Home loss as a Favorite; The Hurricanes are 13-3-1 SU in this role.

Prediction: Carolina 3 Florida 2

Washington vs. Minnesota

The Capitals supporting cast is not helping the big line, as Federov, Semin and company have been injured and it's hurting the club at staying consistent in the win column. Furthermore, tough spot for the Caps tonight, as they are 0-4 SU lifetime in Minnesota to face the Wild! When MINNESOTA team Played as Home team as a Favorite - Coming off vs. Western Conference opponent - After a conference game - Scored 1 or less goals FOR in their last game; The Wild are 16-3-4 SU in this spot.

Prediction: Minnesota 3 Washington 1

Detroit vs. Vancouver

When you think of the Canucks, which sniper comes to mind? Exactly, nobody, they score by comity and without Luongo, this could turn ugly on the west coast. When DETROIT team Played as Road team as a Favorite - Vs Non Division Opponent - Last 2 years - Coming off a Road win as a Favorite; The Red Wings are 12-2 SU in this spot the L2Y.

Prediction: Detroit 4 Vancouver 1

Colorado vs. Anaheim

In sports betting, you're always looking for value on a team, because on any given night, anybody can win, but some teams just have your number and the Ducks have won 6 of the last 7 games vs. the Avs at the Duck pond. When COLORADO team Played as Road team as a Underdog - Vs Non Division Opponent - Total is 5.5 - Coming off a 1 goal win; The Avs are 3-8-1 in this spot.

Prediction: Anaheim 2 Colorado 1
