SCOUTING

Eric Wellwood scored 8:52 into overtime to give the Windsor Spitfires a 5-4 victory over the London Knights on Sunday and a 2-1 lead in the Ontario Hockey League’s Western Conference finals. John Tavares had a goal for London. In the Eastern Conference finals, Nick Palmieri had three goals and two assists in the Belleville Bulls’ 6-2 win over the Brampton Battalion. Brampton leads the series 2-1.

SPEAKING

“We knew we could play well. But to come into the rink of the best team in the league and win the first two games, we don’t expect that, although we have to think it’s possible. … I’m sure this is not what people expected from us. We have the two wins, but the Sharks are still the best team this year.”— Anaheim goalie Jonas Hiller after making 42 saves in the Ducks’ 3-2 victory over top-seeded San Jose on Sunday night. Eighth-seeded Anaheim leads the series 2-0.
