— Antero Niittymaki and Mike Knuble, Flyers. Niittymaki made 28 saves to improve to 12-0 against Atlanta, and Knuble scored twice in Philadelphia’s 5-3 home win.
— Paul Martin, Devils, scored on a breakaway and added an assist in New Jersey’s 5-2 home victory over Montreal.
— Chris Mason, Blues, made 21 saves for his second shutout of the season and 14 overall in St. Louis’ 2-0 victory at Chicago.
— Michael Cammalleri and Todd Bertuzzi, Flames. Cammalleri had two goals, and Bertuzzi scored the winner in the third round of a shootout in Calgary’s 5-4 home victory over Columbus.
— Alexander Frolov, Kings, scored two goals in Los Angeles’ 6-5 win in Colorado.
Michael Ryder, Bruins, beat Vesa Toskala with a high wrist shot in the fourth round of a shootout to give Boston a 4-3 victory in Toronto.
— Yann Danis, Islanders, made 39 saves in New York’s 2-1 home win over Anaheim.

Boston rallied to beat Toronto 4-3 in a shootout Wednesday night to improve to 1-6-2 when trailing after two periods. … The New York Islanders beat Anaheim 2-1 to snap an eight-game losing streak.
STATUS
Philadelphia center Danny Briere will miss another two weeks because of lingering discomfort in his groin and stomach area. Briere, set to have exploratory surgery, recently finished a three-game conditioning stint in the AHL.

San Jose center Patrick Marleau and Dallas defenseman Stephane Robidas were added Wednesday to the Western Conference All-Star roster, replacing Detroit’s Pavel Datsyuk (hip) and Nicklas Lidstrom (ankle). … Washington center Nicklas Backstrom withdrew from the NHL YoungStars game.
SWAP
Minnesota acquired left wing Robbie Earl from Toronto for left wing Ryan Hamilton on Wednesday in a swap of minor leaguers. Earl, a former Wisconsin star, has one assist in nine career games for Toronto. He will report to Houston of the AHL.
STRICKEN
Former NHL coach Pat Burns is facing a third fight with cancer. The 56-year-old Burns told Montreal La Presse he has lung cancer. Burns had colon cancer in 2004 and liver cancer in 2005. He coached Montreal, Toronto, Boston and New Jersey, leading the Devils to the 2002-03 Stanley Cup title.
