SCOREBOARD

Tuesday, March 24

Atlanta at Montreal (7:30 p.m. EDT). Montreal is eighth in the Eastern Conference, a point ahead of Florida for the final playoff spot. The Canadiens are 1-3-2 since Bob Gainey took over behind the bench after firing Guy Carbonneau on March 9.

STARS

Monday

— Jeff Carter, Flyers, scored his 40th goal in Philadelphia’s 4-2 victory over New Jersey.

— Mike Cammalleri, Flames, scored a goal and added two assists as Calgary beat Detroit 5-3.

STATS

The New Jersey Devils were beaten by Philadelphia 4-2 on Wednesday for their first losing streak since they dropped two straight on Jan. 6-8. … Carolina beat Florida 3-2 in overtime on Monday night and improved to 8-1-2 in its last 11 games. The Hurricanes moved past Pittsburgh into fifth place in the East.

STATUS

New York Rangers defenseman Michal Rozsival is expected to be sidelined for seven to 10 days because of an undisclosed lower body injury. Rozsival appeared to injure his left leg during the second period of New York’s 2-1 home loss to Ottawa on Sunday when he was crunched against the boards by Senators forward Shean Donovan. … Minnesota Wild center Mikko Koivu hurt his right knee in Sunday’s win over Edmonton and will miss at least the next week, if not the remainder of the regular season. … Patrik Elias sat out New Jersey’s 4-2 loss at Philadelphia because of lower body soreness.

SPEAKING

“I don’t think about it when I play great, you just move on and play the next game. You guys make too big a deal out of these games. If this happens the day before the playoffs, it doesn’t matter. What matters is what happens in the first playoff game.”—Detroit goalie Chris Osgood after allowing three goals on 14 shots and being pulled in the second period of the Red Wings’ 5-3 loss at Calgary on Monday night.
