The Detroit Red Wings hit the road Wednesday night for a battle against the Calgary Flames as both teams look to make a run to the top of their divisions.
The Red Wings have played in just nine games this season, going 6-2-1 for 13 points. They are two points behind Chicago for first in the Central Division, despite the Blackhawks having played five more games. The Wings have scored 30 goals this year and allowed 24 and they are 2-1-1 on the road.
Calgary is 6-5-0 on the year for 12 points, putting them two points behind Vancouver for first in the Northwest Division. The Flames have scored 33 goals and allowed 34 and are 4-3-0 at home this year.
Here is a look at the trends and my pick for Wednesday’s game.
Detroit Red Wings at Calgary Flames, 9:30PM ET
The Red Wings have won three of the last four meetings in Calgary while the road team had won four of the last five meetings in this series.
The Flames are also 0-6 in their last six games when playing on three or more days of rest while the Wings are 4-1 in their last five against the Western Conference.
