NHL raises salary cap
June 29th, 2007

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Just two days before the start of free-agency, the NHL and the Players' Association announced an increase in the salary cap for the second straight season on Friday.

For the 2007-08 campaign, teams will have a maximum of $50.3 million to spend on their roster. Last season, the cap was set at $44 million.

The minimum amount teams can spend in 2007-08 is $34.3 million. The adjusted midpoint, pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement, is $42.3 million.

Following the lockout that canceled the 2004-05 schedule, the salary cap was implemented for the first time in league history.
