10:35:00 PM Philadelphia Flyers0 Goals +120
over VANCOUVER CANUCKS

Free Pick on Philadelphia Flyers Money Line +120 @ Vancouver @ 10:35 ET - The Flyers are worth a look here at a nice underdog price. We feel the Flyers are going to be one of the most improved teams in the league this season. They've already started off well by splitting their first two games on a tough road trip to Western Canada to start the season. The Flyers have overhauled their roster and the attitude on this team is much different from last season. As for the Canucks the same problems are likely to be there this season just like last season. Namely that is a problem scoring goals. In their win over Calgary on Saturday they were the beneficiary of an amazing four power play goals. Don't look for the Flyers to be quite so generous tonight. Vancouver also has a big divisional game on deck at Edmonton on Friday. With a win over a division rival Saturday and another divisional game on deck, this game is set up well to be a trap for the Canucks. Also, history buffs will be glad to know that the Flyers have historically fared well against Vancouver. Look for more of the same tonight. Play Philadelphia on the money line as your Free Pick for Wednesday.

Wunderdog Comp (NHL)

Game: Calgary at Detroit (7:35 PM Eastern)
Pick: Game Total OVER 5 -125

Totals this low are rare in the NHL. We see this one eclipsing the 5 mark. It's true that a lof of recent games between these clubs have resulted in 5 goals or less, they rarely end up below 5 goals. And, three of the last five played here in Detroit have gone OVER the total. Detroit, despite their excellent defense, goes OVER the total 58% of the time vs. losing teams. Calgary is 99-60 OVER on the road with a total of 5 or less. They are also 12-3 OVER following a division game the past two seasons and15-5 OVER following a game in which they lost by one goal. Take this opportunity to play OVER.

Navy Midshipmen + 4.5 over (at) Pittsburgh Panthers

Pittsburgh (2-3) has dropped three straight off losing at Virginia 44-14 in its latest outing, a team the Panthers beat 38-13 last season. They're starting (third option) a true freshman at QB due to first guy getting injured and second guy being ineffective. Navy (3-2) enters with a bit of momentum off winning its last two games.

Dallas Stars (-160)
Wed Oct 10 '07 8:35p
The Dallas Stars are off to a slow start losing 2 of their first 3 games of the season, but should be able to get them selves back on track against a average looking LA kings team that they have beat 8 straight times. The Stars extended trip to Europe for two early season games, against the defending Cup champs, Anaheim may have contributed to their lethargic start. Bottom line: Look for Dallas to test the Kings 19 year old rookie goalie ( Johnathon Bernier) early and often in this spot, as they push for the much needed win. Note: Dallas net minder Marty Turco was a perfect 5-0 vs LA last season while garnering a stingy 1.77 GAA. Play on the Stars against the moneyline

Jimmy The Moose

Game: Nashville Predators at St. Louis Blues Oct 10 2007 8:35PM
Prediction: Nashville Predators

Reason: In the offseason the Predators moved several of their better players including their starting goaltender. The result of all those moves has been a 2-0 start inwhich they have allowed 1 combined goal. The Predators are 44-20 in their last 64 games vs. Central Division opponents. The Blues are 1-1 and are a much improved team. Their starting goalie Manny Legace is banged up and may not play tonight. In their last 58 games following a win the Blues are 19-39. Nashville is 17-4-1 in the last 22 meetings between the clubs and the Predators have won 7 of their last 8 trips to St. Louis. Play on the Predators +.

ALL COMPS:

Tom Freese

Blue Line Club

San Jose at Chicago (8:35pm)

San Jose has owned the windy city going 7-1 their last 8 games in Chicago. The Sharks are 5-1 when playing with 2 days rest and they are 8-3 after allowing 5 goals in their last game. Chicago is 4-17 at home when the Total is 5.5 and they are just 12-39 their last 51 games vs. the Pacific division. Play On San Jose

Ben Burns

Game: Los Angeles Kings vs. Dallas Stars
Game Time: 10/10/2007 8:35:00 PM

Prediction: Dallas Stars

Reason: The Kings have had some time to recover from their trip across the Atlantic. They've still done a lot of traveling for the first 10 days of October though and they've never fared too well in this series. In fact, the Stars have won the last eight series meetings! Over the last couple of seasons the Kings have gone 5-17 (-7.6) when playing a road game with an over/under line of 5.5. During the same stretch, the Stars have gone 24-5 (+15) when playing a home game with an over/under line of 5.5. Consider laying the price with DALLAS.

Dave Cokin

Free pick of the day is the game between (71) BOS Bruins and (72) ANA Ducks. Take "(71) BOSTON Bruins". Dave is absolutely dominating with his weeknight college football releases, and tonight's Anaheim is finally at home following their world travels of the first week and change in the NHL. I can't see the home ice edge being what it usually is for this potentially jet-lagged entry and I see some value tonight in taking the big price with the Bruins."

Tony K (pickspal)

San Jose at Chicago, 8:35 PM ET

San Jose looks to defeat Chicago for the eighth consecutive time when the teams face off at the United Center. The seven-game winning streak is the Sharks' longest active run over any Western Conference opponent. San Jose has defeated Washington 10 straight times.

The Sharks have outscored Chicago 28-12 to win all seven meetings between the clubs since Oct. 15, 2005. Three of those games took place at the United Center, including a 4-1 San Jose victory on March 21, when Jonathan Cheechoo and Milan Michalek each scored twice and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 28 shots.

The San Jose Sharks need a win Wednesday night to salvage a split of their season-opening four-game road trip. Given their recent history against the Chicago Blackhawks, they appear likely to get that victory.

Play the Sharks (-160)
