Miner’s Escape Potential Long Shot Sleeper at 141 Belmont

Even at 30/1 long odds to win, contender Miner’s Escape is a potential sleeper to win the 141st running of the Belmont Stakes due to his recent race history.

Miner’s Escape hasn’t seen a lot of top competition so far this season, but regardless, he’s been red hot. After finishing fourth at the Maiden Special Weight on February 14, Miners Escape claimed victory at the Maiden Special Weight on March 14.

He backed up that performance with another first place showing at the Federico Tesio S. on May 2, which was his most recent race. Miner's Escape didn’t run at the Kentucky Derby or the Preakness, which is why he’s a long shot coming into the Belmont. But his recent race history suggests that he could be an outstanding value bet this Saturday.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.COM have made Miner’s Escape a 30/1 long shot. His odds currently sit behind (among others) favorite Mine That Bird (5/6), Dunkirk (7/2) and Charitable Man (3/1).

The 141st running of the Belmont Stakes will take place on Saturday, June 6 at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. For more information on this year’s race, check out our 2009 Belmont Stakes Viewing Guide.
