Summer Bird Has Mid-Range Odds to win 141 Belmont
After finishing sixth at the Kentucky Derby, contender Summer Bird intrigues many bettors as the 3-year-old colt gears up for the 2009 Belmont Stakes.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.COM have made Summer Bird a 20/1 long shot. His odds currently sit behind (among others) favorite Mine That Bird (5/6), Dunkirk (7/2) and Charitable Man (3/1).
Summer Bird’s performances so far in 2009 have been inconsistent. He finished fourth at the Maiden Special Weight at Oaklawn Park on March 1 and then won the Maiden Special Weight on March 19.
He placed third at the Arkansas Derby on April 11 and in his first Grade I race of the year, Summer Bird finished sixth at Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby on May 2. That performance, coupled with a couple of great workouts so far for the Belmont, has bettors excited about his potential at Belmont Park this Saturday.
