2010 FIFA World Cup – Holland vs. Slovakia Picks & Predictions
Holland has looked nearly unbeatable thus far in the 2010 World Cup and now the Dutch take on Slovakia in the Round of 16 Monday at 10AM ET.
Holland enters the elimination round as the winner of Group E while Slovakia was the runner-up in Group F.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com have made Holland the clear favorites to win with a betting line of -260 while Slovakia comes in at +750. A regulation draw has a money line of +320.
Holland has won all three games entering the elimination round while giving up just one goal. Holland hasn’t won by an overly-convincing amount, but the Dutch have also not been in danger of losing. They have shown good team balance and been solid on both ends.
Slovakia didn’t really break out until its final game, a 3-2 win over Italy. The team has been led by Robert Vittek, who has three of the team’s four goals. Slovakia was able to beat the defending cup champions to make it into the next round, but a draw with New Zealand and a loss to Paraguay doesn’t have people jumping on the Slovakian bandwagon.
Slovakia has had a nice run and can be proud of its win over Italy, but Holland should keep it from scoring any goals. Holland is still trying to click offensively, and this game should help. Look for the Dutch to take this game by two goals.
Our World Cup Free Pick for this matchup is: HOLLAND -260 and UNDER 2.5
