2010 FIFA World Cup Picks & Predictions for Thursday, June 24, 2010
Along with key trends for each game, our team of writers and handicappers hand out their picks and predictions Thursday, June 24, 2010 in the FIFA World Cup.
Paraguay vs. New Zealand, 10AM ET
Paraguay may play conservative here as all it needs is a draw to advance to the round of 16. New Zealand has a lot to play for, as a win will allow it to advance as well. Look for New Zealand to come out aggressively, but for Paraguay to be too talented and smart to lose. We like the draw in this game.

Slovakia vs. Italy, 10AM ET
Italy needs a win in this game and the defending champions have been less than stellar, playing to two draws thus far. Look for the Italians to put on a good show against a poor Slovakia team and win by two goals on its way to the next round.

Denmark vs. Japan, 2:30PM ET
This is a big game for both teams as the winner moves on and the loser doesn’t. Japan has the edge though as a draw will allow it to move on ahead of Denmark. In this game, we think Japan’s magical run will run out as Denmark seems to be the better team.

Cameroon vs. Holland, 2:30PM ET
Holland has played as well as anyone in the tournament thus far, picking up two wins without allowing a goal. Cameroon had some high hopes for moving to the next round, but has lost both of its games. Look for Holland to win a low scoring game and win Group E.
