The remaining eight teams will compete in four separate matches with the winners moving on to the semifinals. Matches are 90 minutes long and in the event of a draw, two 15-minute periods are played to determine a winner. If the match is still tied after that, the winner is determined by penalty kicks.

Brazil is favored to win the World Cup at this point and has been given 5/2 odds win according to the online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com. Other short odds to win are Spain (14/5), Argentina (9/2), and Germany (7/1)/

Brazil has won five World Cup championships, with the last coming in 2002. In group play won Group G with a 2-0-1 record. In the round of 16, Brazil dominated Chile 3-0. Brazil will now face Holland in the quarterfinals, which is easily the toughest match of the remaining games.

Argentina has won two World Cups, taking the 1978 and 1986 titles. They won Group B as it went 3-0-0, scoring seven goals and allowing just one. In the round of 16 Argentina defeated Mexico 3-1 with a sound offensive display. Argentina will now face off with Germany in the quarterfinals.

Germany has won the World Cup three times, the last coming in 1990. It won Group D with a 2-0-1 record and then went on to beat England 4-1 in the elimination round. Germany will now face Argentina in the quarterfinals.
