2010 Kentucky Derby Odds: Stately Victor a 35/1 Long Shot
Can 2010 Kentucky Derby contender Stately Victor overcome his struggles on dirt in order to capture a victory at Churchill Downs this Saturday?
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made Stately Victor a 35/1 long shot to win the 136th running of the Kentucky Derby. The favorite, Lookin at Lucky, is 9/2 to win and Sidney’s Candy is 15/2.
Stately Victor will come out of the sixth post position, which is had a fair amount of success for horses over the years. Since 1900, the horse coming out of the sixth position has won six races, compared to 12 from the rail position and 12 from the fifth.
Bettors will certainly be encouraged by Stately Victor’s last outing, which produced a victory at the Blue Grass Stakes on April 10, despite having the longest odds in that race. The problem is that the Blue Grass Stakes victory came on synthetic and not on dirt, where Stately Victor has had massive troubles on. With that in mind, was his victory earlier this month a fluke or a sign of great things to come?
