2010 PGA St. Jude Classic Odds to Win – Westwood Opens as 12/1 Favorite

Without Tiger Woods in the field of golfers, Lee Westwood has been chosen as the opening favorite to win the 2010 PGA St. Jude Classic this week.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction, Westwood has opened as a 12/1 favorite. Padraig Harrington and Rory McIlroy have the next best odds as 161, while Robert Allenby is 22/1 and Ben Crane, Zach Johnson and Camilo Villegas are all 25/1.

Previous St. Jude Classic Winners

The defending St. Jude Classic winner is Brian Gay, who is a 33/1 long-shot to win this year’s event. Back when the tournament was referred to as the Stanford St. Jude Championship, Justin Leonard won the event in 2008 in a playoff, while Woody Austin won it in 2007. Leonard is 33/1 to win in 2010, while Austin is an 80/1 long-shot. David Toms won back-to-back FedEx St. Jude Classics in 2003 and 2004, and is 28/1 to win this year’s tournament.

Ernie Els currently has the most points in 2010 with 1,541. He has two wins and five top 10 finishes, while Jim Furyk is in second place with 1,391 points, two wins and four top 10s. Phil Mickelson, who has played in 12 events like Els and Furyk, has 1,386 points with one win and four top 10s.

2010 St. Jude Classic Info

The 2010 St. Jude Classic will start on Thursday, June 10 and will continue through the weekend. The tournament will be played at the TPC at Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee and the format will be stroke play. The par is 70 and the yardage is 7,244. The winner of the tournament will be given a blue and white seersucker jacket.
