2010 Preakness 135 Odds – Pleasant Prince opens at 15-1 to Win
2010 Preakness Stakes contender Pleasant Prince is coming off a sharp prep in last outing and hopes to parlay that effort into a successful showing at Pimlico Race Course this Saturday.
Race History
Pleasant Prince finished third at the G3 Derby Trial, which is considered a sharp prep. But before that outing on April 24, he wasn’t a factor while finishing seventh at the G1 Blue Grass on April 10. He did finish second, however, at the G1 Florida Derby on March 20 after Kentucky Derby runner up Ice Box nosed him late.
Opening Odds
Pleasant Prince opened as a 15/1 long shot to win the 2010 Preakness Stakes, according to oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction. Super Saver, who won the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago, has been made a 2/1 favorite, while Paddy O’prado (third place at the Derby) is 3/1 and Lookin at Lucky is 4/1.
Early Analysis
While he did finish a distant third at the Derby Trial, it qualifies as a sharp prep and offers an encouraging sign for this Saturday. But even though he has six starts under his belt this year, Pleasant Prince doesn’t have a stakes win in his career and has a best Beyer of 99. He also skipped the Derby, so he’s one of the many unknown horses that will have to compete against Super Saver, Paddy O’prado and Lookin at Lucky over the 1 3/16 miles on Saturday. If his seventh place showing at the G1 Blue Grass is any indication of how he’ll fair this weekend, then Pleasant Prince should be avoided.
