2010 Preakness 135 Odds – Yawanna Twist a Long Shot at 25-1 Odds

After back-to-back second place finishes in each of his last two races, is Yawanna Twist a potential sleeper to win the 2010 Preakness Stakes this Saturday?

Bet 2010 Preakness Stakes

Race History

Yawanna Twist finished second at the G3 Illinois Derby on April 3 behind American Lion and also finished as the runner up in the G3 Gotham on March 6 behind Kentucky Derby contender Awesome Act. At the Illinois Derby, he drew even with Awesome Act before fading late down the stretch.

Opening Odds

Oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com have made Yawanna Twist a 25/1 long shot to win the 2010 Preakness. Super Saver is a 2/1 favorite, while Paddy O’prado is 3/1 and Lookin at Lucky is 4/1.

Early Analysis

It’s hard to get a gauge on Yawanna Twist. While his second place showing at the Illinois Derby qualifies as a sharp prep, he has only made three starts this season, he didn’t compete in the Kentucky Derby and is coming off a six-week layoff. He also doesn’t have any stakes wins and has never run a triple digit Beyer. So while his last two outings are encouraging, it’s hard to believe he’ll be able to compete with the big boys on Saturday coming off such a long layoff.
