2010 Preakness Odds – Contender First Dude 15-1 According to Oddsmakers
Coming off a sharp prep at the G1 Blue Grass, First Dude is looking to turn some heads at the 2010 Preakness Stakes, which takes place this Saturday.
Race History
First Dude finished third at the G1 Blue Grass behind Stately Victor and fellow Preakness contender Paddy O’prado. Before that, he finished fifth at the G1 Florida Derby on March 20.
Opening Odds
Oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com have made First Dude a 15/1 long shot to win the 135th running of the Preakness Stakes. Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver is a 2/1 favorite, followed by Paddy O’prado at 3/1 and Lookin at Lucky at 4/1.
Early Analysis
First Dude already has four starts under his belt and is coming off a sharp prep at the G1 Blue Grass. But he skipped the Kentucky Derby, has not one a stakes win in his career and is coming off a five-week layoff. His best Beyer of 90 was earned in an allowance race and he usually races close to the pace. On a positive note, he was bounced around at the start of the Blue Grass but rallied to finish third. Assuming he doesn’t have to fight through traffic on Saturday, maybe he can surprise and finish in the money.
