2010 U.S. Golf Masters Updated Odds to Win – Tiger Woods Favored

After making the official announcement that he will make his PGA Tour return at the 2010 Masters, Tiger Woods has become the favorite to win at Augusta.

Woods has been entrenched in a media scandal since late November of last year after he crashed his SUV into a tree outside his Florida home. What ensued was a highly publicized and embarrassing sequence of events ranging from him leaving the PGA Tour to him checking in to a sex rehabilitation center for therapy.

But earlier in the week, Woods made the official announcement that he would return to golf on April 8 in Augusta. According to his statement, he wanted to ensure that there would be enough time for him to train and the Masters offered the first opportunity for him to confidently return to the links.

The updated odds have Tiger as a 3/1 favorite to win the 2010 Masters, with Phil Mickelson trailing him with 7/1 odds. Padraig Harrington is 16/1, Paul Casey is 22/1 and Rory McIlroy is 25/1, according to oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com.

Woods is a four-time winner at the Masters, with victories coming in 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2005. The last time he won one of the four PGA Major Tournaments came in 2008 when he was victorious at the U.S. Open.

Mickelson won his last Masters in 2006, which was his second victory in the tournament. His first came in 2004 when he shot nine under par and won by a one-stroke margin. Angel Cabrera is the defending Masters champion, while Trevor Immelman won in 2008 and Zach Johnson won in 2007. Cabrera is now a long shot to win this year at 50/1, while Johnson is 40/1.

The 2010 Masters PGA Tournament will take place in Augusta, Georgia at the Augusta National Golf Club. It’s a par 72 and the yardage is officially 7,435 yards. The format is stroke play and the purse is $7,500,000. For complete odds on this year’s event, see below.
