2010 Wimbledon Men’s Odds To Win – Federer Favored By Oddsmakers
The most famous tennis tournament makes its annual return this week as the 2010 edition of Wimbledon takes place from London, England starting on Monday.
The Favorite
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction has made Roger Federer a 7/5 favorite to win this year’s tournament. Other short odds are Rafael Nadal (9/4), Andy Murray (6/1), and Andy Roddick (10/1). Federer is a six-time winner of this event, having won all six in the last seven years. He finished second to Nadal in 2008.
Previous Winners
Nadal won the event in 2008 and has the second shortest odds to win the tournament. Lleyton Hewitt was the last player aside from Nadal or Federer to win, as he took the 2002 crown. His odds to win this year are at 30/1. Hewitt has not won a grand slam event since his 2002 Wimbledon title.
Recent Success
Nadal is coming off a win in the 2010 French Open where he cruised to the title where Federer failed to reach the semifinals for the first time in a grand slam event since 2004. Nadal’s French Open title was his fifth in six years and second grand slam in the last two years.
