2012 UFC 153 Betting Odds & Card for Silva vs. Bonnar
By Drew Sharper

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (TheSpread) – The UFC Middleweight Champion competes in a non-title bout to headline UFC 153 on Saturday night.

UFC 153 will take place from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with the main card bouts airing live on PPV at 10PM ET.

The main event of this card is a light heavyweight contest featuring the middleweight champion, Anderson Silva (32-4) taking on Stephan Bonnar (15-7) in what oddsmakers see as a lopsided affair. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Silva is the overwhelming favorite to win, as he has a money line of -1350, while Bonnar has odds of +800. Silva has yet to lose in the UFC since joining the organization back in June of 2006. He has competed at light heavyweight two times in that time and won with first round KO’s. Bonnar has been somewhat of a journeyman in the UFC. He has never quite gotten to an elite level, but has won his last three fights. He hasn’t competed since November of 2011, but he and Silva are both taking this fight on short notice when injuries decimated the original card. Bonnar has only been stopped twice in his career, and both were due to cuts. He has a tough chin, but he probably hasn’t faced power like Silva has in his hands and feet. Bonnar relies on boxing and grappling to win, but his boxing will not be in the same class as Silva.

The co-main event of Saturday’s card is a light heavyweight contest where Glover Teixeira (18-2) takes on Fabio Maldonado (18-5) in another fight that was scheduled on short notice. Teixeira was supposed to fight Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, but he suffered an injury a few weeks back. According to oddsmakers, Teixeira is favored to win, as he has odds of -360 while Maldonado has a money line of +290 to prevail. Teixeira has won 16 straight fights, including his UFC debut last May in 113 seconds. He is a solid all-around fighter with good power and great submission skills. Maldonado is actually coming off back-to-back losses by decision. He is a tough fighter, but likely doesn’t have the skills to stack up with Teixeira.
