2014 PGA Championship Odds To Win: Rory McIlroy Favored

LOUISVILLE, KY (TheSpread) – The final major of the 2014 golf season takes place this week as golfers contend for the PGA Championship.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Rory McIlroy is the clear favorite to win, as he has 5/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Adam Scott (12/1), Justin Rose (16/1) and Sergio Garcia (20/1).
McIlroy is back at No. 1 in the world rankings thanks to winning his last two events, the British Open and WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. McIlroy won this event in 2012 and has placed in the top 10 in four of his five PGA Championship appearances.
Scott is No. 2 in the world rankings. He has one win on the year, but has five straight top 10s coming into this tournament. Scott has never won the PGA Championship, but he does own a major title. He has placed in the top 10 in five of his last seven majors and has finished in the top 10 of this event four times, including two of the last three years.
Rose is fifth in the world rankings. He has two wins and seven top 10s on the year. Rose is a one-time major winner, but has just one top 10 in his last seven majors. Rose has placed in the top 10 twice in this event, but has missed the cut five times.
Garcia is up to third in the current world rankings. He has one win this year and three runner-up finishes. Garcia has yet to win a major championship, but he did finish second in this event two times. He is coming off a second-place finish at the British Open and the Bridgestone Invitational.
