BMW Championship Picks And Predictions
The 2009 BMW Championship will tee off on Thursday, and our team of writers and handicappers have put together three free picks for this week’s PGA event.
The top 70 players remaining on the FedEx Cup standings compete in the third of four FedEx Cup playoff events. This field is filled only with the best of the PGA Tour, meaning the tournament will be highly competitive.
Tiger Woods 15/8
Woods finished 11th at the Deutsche Bank Championship last weekend, but prior to that, Woods was first or second in his last four events. Woods is now trailing Steve Stricker in the FedEx Cup points after leading virtually all year, so Woods needs a win to catapult back into the lead. With the FedEx Cup winner picking up $10 million; that is something Woods doesn’t want to miss out on.
Steve Stricker 8/1
Stricker has been hot since starting the playoffs, finishing second at The Barclays and winning last week’s Deutsche Bank Championship. Stricker has jumped up to second in the world rankings and first in the FedEx Cup standings. Stricker finished 10th in the 2008 BMW Championship.
Retief Goosen 30/1
Goosen is coming off an eighth place finish last weekend and has five top 10 finishes in his last eight events. Goosen has finished in the top 10 seven times this year with two victories.
The 2009 BMW Championship will be played at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club starting on Thursday, Sept. 10 and concluding Sunday, Sept. 13.
