Brian Nadeau's Daily Picks

Gulfstream Park - Race #3
Picks Notes
#5 Aznavour Lightly raced Barboza charge has been middling of late but now takes the blinkers off, which could wake her up, in a race that's clearly there for the taking; can surprise.
#6 Toonie Loonie Strong favorite has hit the board in all three dirt starts with better figs than these, though she hasn't been close to winning and will be a short price here; trying to beat.
#1 Leishlanick Stalker was 5 lengths behind 'Loonie last time after a tricky chasing between trip, so if she can settle off the speed and rally, she can get a piece; moderate exotics appeal.
Race Summary You'll get fair value on the 5, and she was only 3 3/4 lengths behind the chalk last time, has more upside, and could improve with the equipment change, so give her a look in all the slots, as well as the early Pk5/Pk4, since budget players will be singling the 6, even though she is starting to develop a reputation for running underneath.

Gulfstream Park - Race #5
Picks Notes
#3 Independent Miss Stretch runner exits open maidens, with a rousing winner to boot, but now drops in to Fl breds, catches a field loaded with speed, gets a monumental jock upgrade to Saez; upset special.
#10 Smooth as Glass Nicks firster goes for a 15% debut barn, lures main man Gaffalione, is kin to local GIII winner C Zee, who earned 486k, and did well to draw outside all the other speed; thinking she's live.
#4 Thisismytime Newcomer dueled then tired on debut in NY in Sept. for B. Brown against open maidens, and gets a huge change to O'Connell, though her 0-17 mark off long breaks says next time; tabbing.
Race Summary You're not seeing that 10-1 ML on the pic, but even half that seems fair on a runner who will love not only the competition, but the energetic pace as well, and Saez is just a man among boys around these parts, so play her in all the slots, and to end the early Pk5/Pk4 as well, since this is a wide open field, and a win in the $12 range would knock plenty of tickets out that were trying to get through.

Gulfstream Park - Race #10
Picks Notes
#8 Tomato Bill Intriguing returnee goes for a Clement barn that is 22% off long layoffs, exits a turf run behind a subsequent BC winner, was a fine 2nd to a nice 2yo in a Spa GIII the last time he was on dirt, has worked well for this, and the fact Saez was lured says he's primed; look out.
#2 Hop Kat Fellow returnee hasn't been since since an 8-length debut win at CD in May, with a huge figure (for that time of year), and is the speed of the speed here, but he spots experience to these, and obviously something went amiss with his extended absence; still, plenty scary.
#6 Double Crown Tricky read was a sharp debut winner at Lrl in September and then was a private purchase and turned over to Ritvo, but you know the plan wasn't to sit on him until late April, and geld him too, so, like the chalk, there are clearly some questions attached; mixed signals here.
Race Summary The price makes a lot of different with the 8, as opposed to the 2 and 6, and that risk-reward helps alleviate the layoff, though Clement's big stats do too, so play him in all the slots, and especially the late Pk5/Pk4 as well, since there are a lot of different ways you can go here, and a win in the 9-2 range or so would undoubtedly add some value to both sequences.

Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

Gulfstream Park - Race #1
Picks Notes
#7 I'm Cardinal Struggled here because he was fairly flat late in that last one, but he has run well here in the past and can get the right kind of forward trip.
#1 Earth Speed probably doesn't have any choice but to try to go from the inside, and he might be useful in sticking around underneath if he doesn't take too much early heat.
#8 New York's Finest Tactical type can sit close enough to be within range while spying the speed, and he was an easy winner with similar two starts back.
Race Summary I'm Cardinal earned a good number but wasn't all that visually solid late in the last one, but that was a good group, and he can get the trip.

Gulfstream Park - Race #6
Picks Notes
#3 Kaufy Bean Made short work of that claiming group in his first turf route try, and the guess is he'll make another break for it today and dare them to come get him.
#1 Wild Medagliad'oro Really came to life on the lawn when going long last out, and if he can fire a similar shot off the layoff today, he can handle these.
#7 Azrael Can't discount anything on the grass from the Brown barn, and this guy can get the trip while spying the top choice.
Race Summary Kaufy Bean flashed sharp speed and never wavered in that last one, and I'm willing to take it at face value considering it was his first turf route. He may have found his home, and I'll give him the chance to prove it at a fair price.

Gulfstream Park - Race #8
Picks Notes
#6 Sneer Probably won't be much of a price on the board, but she's got the pace to find a good spot in the early going, and anything like a repeat of her last probably handles these.
#1 Market Rumor Showed little at 79/1 in the debut, but she's the type who can improve with that experience under her belt, and the price will be right to try to get her in the mix with the chalk.
#8 Feeling Funny Probably finds the front if they want it on the stretchout to 7f, and if the top choice doesn't fire, there's a chance she never comes back.
Race Summary Sneer ran a big one last out when catching a fast main track for the first time, and she looks like the right one with Market Rumor offering the mildest of intrigue at a big number underneath.

Jerry Shottenkirk's Daily Picks

Tampa Bay Downs - Race #6
Picks Notes
#4 Stop War Broke his maiden going long and will have to get going early as she turns back to 5 furlongs; royally bred filly has the class to win right back.
#3 Silver Tunes Has enough speed to be a factor from the beginning and can dig in vs. this group.
#8 Bucky's Drama Comes in off a maiden win at Gulfstream in a race that came off the turf; was 2nd in two turf starts and fits here.
Race Summary Stop War was impressive in a maiden win and can answer the call when asked early on in this one; classy and tough to beat here.

Tampa Bay Downs - Race #1
Picks Notes
#7 Enjoy Baseball Won with complete authority last out, opening up seven lengths. That was his 1st since November and he can be expected to run another big one. One to beat.
#3 Kholstomer Was an easy winner the last time he was on dirt and most recently faltered on turf; gets back to a dirt sprint and can be in the mix from the outset.
#1 Papa Ralph J Finally put together a complete race last time and crushed maiden claimers going long; turns back in distance and likely will make a solid late run.
Race Summary Enjoy Baseball was an easy winner last out and his 1st attempt in this area was impressive; can repeat.

Tampa Bay Downs - Race #4
Picks Notes
#4 Amelia's Wild Ride Woked up with a good 2nd last out and was claimed by March barn; was headquartered at Gulfstream prior to his 1st one here and his increase in price is an indication what his connections think of this 9-year-old.
#6 Epic Drama Has been fastest enough to get the lead in his last three and survived one of those speed battles; could be difficult to catch.
#8 Northern Goes after his 3rd straight win and 4th in his last 5, he has an adjustable running style that will make him factor.
Race Summary Amelia's Wild Ride takes a hike in class and ran well in his 1st over this strip; capable of another big effort.
