Brian Nadeau's Daily Picks

Gulfstream Park - Race #2
Picks Notes
#7 Sheknowsthedrill Speedster woke up in a big way last time, when she sped off early and held for 4th, the first time she showed any life, and now she draws perfectly, in a race void of speed, cuts back, and should be a fair price too; look out.
#6 Cabrina ML favorite was a closing 4th on debut with a big figure (for this group), but it also came at 98-1, so who knows what you get here, at a much, much smaller price too, while she's at the mercy of the pace as well; not sold on.
#5 Water Wizard Fellow stretch runner beat the pick when a distant 2nd last time, so she obviously figures, but she's another who will be at a race flow disadvantage, won't offer any value, and has no upside after seven starts; making her prove it.
Race Summary Pace makes the race and there's not a lot here, so the 7 should be loose or at the very least pressing from the outside, which really helps her chances, while hurting those of the 5 and 6, so play her to win and place, and especially in the early Pk5, and to kick off the early Pk4 as well, since she looks primed for a lifetime best, off what was a breakthrough effort last time.

Gulfstream Park - Race #6
Picks Notes
#1 No Getting Over Me Intriguing sort makes his first start for Joseph, who has been known to move them way up, has the tactical speed to be in touch with the heavy favorite early, has never run against state breds, and will offer value as well; thinking he may freak.
#2 Untitled Expected odds-on favorite was last seen running a bang-up 2nd at this trip in the GIII Gotham behind a classy runaway winner, and is clearly the controlling speed here too, but all he's done is beat nothing on debut, at just 6Fs too; backwheel time.
#4 First and Three Veteran gets a few bonus points in that the top-2 are 3yos who have never faced older, while this dude has been knocking heads with them for almost a year now, and note he has three wins too, so he won't be out of his element here; not impossible.
Race Summary The fact that the 1 goes into a potent new barn makes him a candidate to jump way up, plus the chalk might not be best going this far either, so play the pick to win and place, and especially to kick off the late Pk4 as well, since budget players will swarm to the 2, even though we know what he can do, while 'Me may be the one jumping way up with a lifetime best here.

Gulfstream Park - Race #7
Picks Notes
#5 Piven Aqu invader was in against a tough dirt crew when last seen, so this drop will help a lot, and note he's been much better on synthetics at WO, while also showing a few decent turf runs there as well, and today he adds Lasix, and should be a square price too; upset special.
#6 Gemonteer Heavy hitter has been in against graded foes in his last two, so this drop in class to a starter-allowance is a seismic one, but there's other speed here, he'll be overbet, and they don't always come back like they used to be after getting drubbed against better; second-best.
#11 Dr. Edgar GIII winner has seemingly been finding his form of late, as he went off the rails a bit but the close 5th in a local GIII last time was defintely a step in the right direction, but he'll be overbet, and this wide draw leaves him little margin for error either; trying to beat on top.
Race Summary The price will be right and then some on the 5, who will get completely overlooked but drew well, will like the surface switch, and could move way up with Lasix added, so give him a look in all the slots, and in the early Pk5, and to kick off the late Pk4 as well, since he's going to be ignored in lieu of the favorites, even though he wouldn't be impossible if the equipment change moves him in a few lengths.

Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

Gulfstream Park - Race #1
Picks Notes
#8 Delia's Pride Thought she may have shown just a little bit of life in that last one when going evenly from a bit closer to the pace than she had been in previous starts.
#10 Laska Big dropper dominates this group on figures, but it's a bit hard to see her offering the 3/1 ML price with that kind of edge.
#11 Pasatime The only turf try wasn't all terrible at 66/1, and she has a bit of bounce-back potential here after the big dud last out.
Race Summary These MCL turf routes have produced bonkers prices in the last couple of weeks, so absolutely don't feel bad taking a shot here. Delia's Pride is a bit of a reach, but on paper almost all of them are when compared to Laska. 'Pride goes third off the break with a decent run to her credit last out.

Gulfstream Park - Race #3
Picks Notes
#1 Dotdotdash Blinkers go on after a useful enough turf debut last time out, and she flashed a bit of tracking pace that day, so perhaps the blinkers will add just enough pep to her early step to get a trip from the fence.
#4 Princess Avril Showed a bit of pace in that last on before folding up late, and though sire Fast Anna is just 7% with first-time turfers, he gets 15% turf winners overall, so it's not out of the question that this filly might like the new footing.
#6 Make a Mint Wouldn't want too short a number with this one, as she's dropping in price off a really decent turf sprint debut back in December. She disappeared from the worktab for a month after that one, and then they started and stopped on her again. Long story short, she was 130/1 last out for twice this price and now comes back with plenty of questions to answer.
Race Summary Dotdotdash has a right to be tough here if the blinkers move her up, and there isn't really anything to be afraid of in this spot. Princess Avril has the new footing to conquer, and Make a Mint is going to be a fraction of the price she was last out while bringing a couple of fairly serious red flag with her as far as timing goes.

Gulfstream Park - Race #9
Picks Notes
#11 Arthur Kitt Shorter trip might make things a bit tougher for him here, but he has run pretty well in a couple of North American trips and is probably just tactical enough to overcome the post.
#1 Temple Reliable finishing type has been settling for underneath shares in recent starts, but the running lines are still quite competitive with this bunch, and he might get a cozy trip from the inside.
#6 The Green Mo'ster Was 160/1 when a pretty decent fourth last out -- only a length and a half behind Temple who was 6/1 there -- and if there's any chance the McGoey barn can keep him in that form right back, he's there again. April 16 bullet drill hints that he might be.
Race Summary Arthur Kitt would need to offer something like the 9/2 ML price to get me to jump in, and the price player to try to get into the mix might be The Green Mo'ster. The number on the board gets cut significantly today, but he's almost surely still going to offer 15/1 or 20/1.

Jerry Shottenkirk's Daily Picks

Remington Park - Race #1
Picks Notes
#2 Travelin Friends Showed speed but was caught late vs. a higher level, takes a drop and is the one to beat here.
#1 Sweet Bab of Return Ran a credible 4th, beaten a half length in her 1st since October; can be troublesome to these.
#3 Eyeza Painted Pistol Was up in time vs. N2L company last out and steps up vs. better; has some closing punch.
Race Summary Travelin Friends won two straight and then tired in her latest. Tough for these to handle at the break.

Remington Park - Race #3
Picks Notes
#1 Sling Was 2nd in his only two starts, drops to the maiden-claiming level for the win.
#5 Ocean Dynasty Had a tough start in his only attempt and is eligible to improve here.
#8 BP Primetime Was 5th in a futurity last out and should be able to move up with this drop in class.
Race Summary Sling has run well thus far, just not good enough to win; that changes with some class relief here.

Remington Park - Race #7
Picks Notes
#4 Bpmysoutherndynasty Has had an eventful couple of starts thus far, having bucked in his debut and being 4th after a tough start in his followup. Can get it right in this one.
#1 Relentless Memory Well-connected Hes Relentless gelding has a couple good works and is ready for his debut.
#2 Zoomin From Sin Was 3rd in his appearance; had a tough start and flattened out late. Turns back from 330 to 300 yards and could be tough for every bit of this one.
Race Summary Bpsmysoutherndynasty held 4th in a futurity trial, keeps Flores and doesn't have to improve a lot to get it done this time.

Gulfstream Park - Race #3 - Post: 2:07pm - Maiden Claiming - 5.0 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $17,000 Class Rating: 65

Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar

#13 BORROWED ANGEL (ML=8/1)
#9 AWESOME EVIL (ML=12/1)

BORROWED ANGEL - Trainer Margotta moves this horse down in class ranks to face a weaker class today. Look for a solid effort this time out. It looks like the early speed horses may duel each other into the ground. When the real running starts this filly should be flying down the lane. AWESOME EVIL - Filly has shown some pace. This shorter trip should be better for her. Lebron comes to saddle up after getting to know the filly in the last race. Like the way this filly's finish positions keep getting better. That's a sure sign of improving form.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 AWESOME LIGHT (ML=7/2), #1 DOTDOTDASH (ML=4/1), #6 MAKE A MINT (ML=9/2),

AWESOME LIGHT - Don't think this runner is worth 7/2 in this contest. DOTDOTDASH - This filly hasn't had any strong victories in short distance races in the last sixty days. MAKE A MINT - In any race of 5 furlongs, I like to back a contender that has been sharp in short distance events lately.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - BORROWED ANGEL - Margotta gives this one Lasix. Must be ready for a serious try this time.

PURCHASE
Always check program numbers.
Odds shown are morning line odds.

Race 6 - Maiden - 350y on the Dirt. Purse: $12300 Class Rating: 78

QUARTER HORSE 350Y, FOR MAIDENS, THREE YEARS OLD. WEIGHT, 124 LBS.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES
The Walker Group Picks

# 5 APOLLITICAL B KING 12/1

# 4 PREMIER CORONA 3/1

# 8 ALCHEMYST 5/1

APOLLITICAL B KING looks to be a respectable contender and is a very good value wager given the line. Has performed solidly lately in short races, posting a nifty 71 avg Equibase Speed Figure. PREMIER CORONA - Could provide positive dividends based on respectable recent speed figures with an average of 71. Has been running admirably lately and will most likely be on the lead early on. ALCHEMYST - He should definitely be given consideration given the quite good speed numbers.
