Brian Nadeau's Daily Picks
Mahoning Valley - Race #2
Picks Notes
#3 It's Official Closer was getting to the winner last time off the break, is proven against winners, and now catches a field loaded with speed; look out.
#6 Enemy Runner Pace presser did well to draw out the speed and looked good in his MSW win last time, but stepping up at short odds is a worry; second-best.
#5 It'sgoodtobeseen Scary wort freaked on debut after dueling early, but that was in the slop, and he's in a pace sandwich here, and will be bet; mixed signals.
Race Summary The race flow says the 3 has a huge chance here, and he gets some bonus points in that he goes second-off the layoff, is proven at the level, and faces a few coming out of the MSW ranks, so play him aggressively to win and place, while getting some added value by keying him in the exotics, since he looks like he's getting all the best of it here, and yet won't even be favored.
Mahoning Valley - Race #5
Picks Notes
#5 Pretty Charlee Longshot gets a big jock upgrade to Quinones, has speed in a field without a lot, has upside too off just three decent enough starts, and while she won't be this 20-1 ML, there will be plenty of value attacked here; bombs away.
#6 Promises Forever The chalk beat the pick by almost 4 last time and has the best form here, but she's also now 8-0-3-1 and doesn't appear to be getting any better, so while she hits hard for sure, she'll do so at an underlaid price; scary, but no lock.
#7 Untapped Energy Improving sort has been inching up her form in two starts this year and now makes the often pivotal third start of her form cycle, at what should be decent odds too, though there's no doubt she needs to improve; looms in the mix.
Race Summary The price will be right and then some on the pick, but she's hardly without hope here and isn't far behind the two favorites, and with expected improvement it's possible she gets to their level, so give her a look in all the slots, and especially to kick off the Pk4 as well, since a win would really blow things up right off the bat.
Mahoning Valley - Race #8
Picks Notes
#8 Modern Justice Rousing N2L winner won with a figure that would lap this field, and while the drop in for a tag is a bit worrisome, there's just no one here to fear; imposing.
#10 Grand Kitten ML longshot drops out of the ALW ranks, so, aside from the pick, he should love this group, and his closing style will pick up some pieces; exotics price appeal.
#2 Chief Big Head The more likely EX partner was a good 2nd at the level last time and will be a factor here, though this inside draw can be tricky in a big field; the main danger.
Race Summary That 2-1 ML on the pick would be a gift, so swing aggressively to win and place if you see anything near it, though you can get some built in value by singling him to end the Pk4, and by using a price like the 10 in the vertical exotics below him too, since it's name the score time again on top if he runs back to his last.

Charles Town - Race #5
Picks Notes
#9 Cutter Landing Might offer a pretty nice number on the board with these, and there is enough pace signed on in here to set things up for something from off the splits.
#1 Cheese Louise Tactical pace adds blinkers while drawing the rail, and there are a handful of pace players drawn further outside of her. Think she's one of the ones on paper, but she might be in for a tough night from this draw.
#7 Commcat Likely favorite can settle a bit and finish, and that should serve her well as she's up on what might be an honest pace.
Race Summary Cutter Landing draws well to settle back and try to save a bit of ground from her wide draw, and there might be an honest enough pace to bring her home late.
Charles Town - Race #6
Picks Notes
#3 Paisley Singing She made a little middle move last out, and that kind of trip might play well with this bunch where there are a couple of sharp speed players going two turns for the first time.
#5 Johnny Ritt Has a big class edge on this bunch, so the only real questions are 1.) whether he gets caught on a tough pace, and 2.) will he handle the sometimes tricky local footing? The one to beat.
#1 Fu Man Sue Has really put things together in those last two starts, but like the chalk, he's going to get bet while trying the CT surface for the first time
Race Summary Paisley Singing has some pace but figures to get outrun early tonight. That could work to her advantage to let the quicker players battle early while staying in touch throughout.
Charles Town - Race #7
Picks Notes
#1 Aussie Gold The two-back run was a bit more of an exception than a rule in this mare's form, but she has enough pace to find the front from the fence and might be able to take these the entire way.
#6 Punk Rock Princess Will likely be closer on in the early going tonight, but her versatile style allows her to adapt to however this race unfolds.
#3 Lies and Scandals Doesn't have a ceiling quite as high as a handful of others in here, but she's a reliable grinding type who can land an underneath piece.
Race Summary Aussie Gold gets a price call over Punk Rock Princess, as she has some pace to use from the fence and is 0-for-6 in the slop, giving her some excuse from the last one.

Western Fair - Race #2
Picks Notes
#4 PANTHER SEELSTER Speed mission came up short, retains betting value at same level.
#1 DUSTYLANESAM Enters new barn, takes big class hike after back-to-back romps.
#2 AMERICAN ASSASSIN Steady numbers, steady check-getter, but winless this year.
Race Summary Panther Seelster changed tactics, held a clear lead to the stretch and tired on a ‘good’ track. He goes back on Lasix today for a 25-percent barn. Play a 4 with 1, 2 with ALL trifecta.
Northfield Park - Race #1
Picks Notes
#3 BROADWAY SARAH In good form cycle, exits split race that timed 1-3/5 seconds faster.
#5 V-KEY’S BLAZER Appears stuck in ‘second’ gear at this level this year.
#9 LADY LONESTAR Controlled pace and got caught two back, will be on move early from second tier.
Race Summary Broadway Sarah won going away off a 7-month layoff, then earned an improved speed figure while trotting evenly in the faster division of a split race. She’s worth a play at 6-1 on the morning line.
Northfield Park - Race #3
Picks Notes
#3 FLAWLESS STONE Mare finished with a flourish, figures tough if she stays flat.
#9 WAIT TIL THE END Stayed flat in qualifier for new trainer, use in gimmicks at 20-1.
#1 MAJOR MOOLAH Finished distant second to 2-to-5 winner, starts from rail.
Race Summary Flawless Stone spotted the field 14 lengths after she broke stride in the second quarter. She emerged on the scene midway on the final turn and closed with a 3-wide rush on her own courage. Play 3-1 and 3-9 exactas with today’s Best Bet on top.

Gulfstream Park - Race #8
Picks Notes
#4 Arrivederla Taking a flyer on a late runner that comes in off a fourth-place finish; has the speed to stay in range and can be the one to benefit from the fast pace.
#2 Jersey Joe B Has been all over the place as far as class and has the speed to be a factor from the start.
#5 Yes I See Has been in some tough spots and turns back in distance; could be moving well in the late stages.
Race Summary Arrivederla can run into contention when called upon and will be the one to move up if the speed horses falter.
Gulfstream Park - Race #6
Picks Notes
#3 Big Spender Has exceptional speed and is back to the main track; failed on turf last time but should be the one to beat over his preferred surface.
#1 Atthepearlygates Was 2nd in his lat two and gets a rider change to Lebron; can be in the mix from the start.
#4 Poppy's Destiny Off since 2018 and was stakes-placed vs. New York-breds; not a real tough spot for a return and he's been training well.
Race Summary Big Spender has twice tried the turf and twice has failed; those experiments should be done and a return to dirt should be just what the doctor ordered.
Gulfstream Park - Race #7
Picks Notes
#1 Beasaichi Was 2nd in her only two turf races, stays on the grass and makes the 1st start after claim by Hess, Jr. stable; likely to get a good trip just off the pace.
#9 Wicked Solution Can benefit from a fast pace and will loom as the biggest late threat; if they move too fast early, she'll probably be the one late.
#4 Lalali Makes her 1st start on the turf and is certainly bred to have success; likely to get to the lead and we'll see just how far she wants to go.
Race Summary Beasaichi has done well in two turf attempts and will not need a lot of improvement for this one.

FED XMAN - This animal is tops in earnings per race entered. He looks sharp in today's affair. FIFTH OF NOVEMBER - The rider/conditioner duo of Castanon and Dominguez has a strong return on investment together.
Vulnerable Contenders: #4 LUNAG RI (ML=9/5), #8 DANVILLE (ML=5/2), #5 ESTILO PELIGROSO (ML=5/1),
LUNAG RI - If he goes off close to the morning line odds of 9/5, I'll have to pass. DANVILLE - Hard to bet on any horse to turn things around if there is no value to taking the stab. ESTILO PELIGROSO - He showed not much at all in the last affair.

The Walker Group Picks
# 1A CAPTAIN TYREE 3/1
# 8 HIDEAWAY HERO 5/2
# 4 DUTCHMAN 7/2
I think CAPTAIN TYREE is a very good choice. Could provide positive gains based on respectable recent speed figures with an average of 80. He looks solid in this slot and I expect will be on the front end or close at the midpoint. Is a solid contender - given the 82 speed rating from his most recent race. HIDEAWAY HERO - Ought to be considered a contender on earnings per start at the distance/surface alone. Should best this group here, showing decent figures of late. DUTCHMAN - Decent selection to take this race going in a dirt route. Ran a strong last race.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES
The Walker Group Picks
# 6 IYWAAN 3/1
# 2 KING OLLIE 6/1
# 1 MESSY BAKER 4/1
I think IYWAAN is a decent choice. Has been running quite well lately and will probably be up near the lead early on. Has to be considered based on the decent speed rating put up in the last contest. A solid 86 avg Equibase class rating may give this horse a distinct class edge against this group. KING OLLIE - Recent figures for the rider - 15 win percent - make this gelding stand out in this group. Bettors ought to take a good look at this one as this gelding has one of the best win percentages at this distance in this group. MESSY BAKER - Formidable selection to take this race going in a dirt route. Kulp and Conner have won 31 percent of their races giving this animal a quite good chance.
