Kentucky Derby 135 Odds: Pioneer of The Nile 6/1 Favorite to Win in 2009
Perhaps one of the sleepers in the 2009 Kentucky Derby is Pioneerof the Nile, who has been made a 6/1 long shot this Saturday at Churchill Downs.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have established Pioneerof the Nile as a 6/1 shot to win the 2009 Kentucky Derby. But even though he’s a long shot, his recent race history indicates that he could be a sleeper to win at Churchill Downs this Saturday.
Pioneerof the Nile has been absolutely outstanding in 2009 so far. He won the Santa Anita Derby on April 5 and before that, finished first at the San Felipe in Santa Anita on March 14. In his first race of the season, he won on February 7 at the Robert B. Lewis and his last race of 2009 at the CashCall Futurity in Hollywood Park.
The latest news surrounding Pioneerof the Nile has been very encouraging. Exercise rider George Alvarez has stated in the media that Pioneerof the Nile had good workout last Sunday and that he couldn’t be doing any better health wise.
Pioneerof the Nile (6/1) ranks behind current 2009 Kentucky Derby favorite I Want Revenge (5/2) in terms of odds for Saturday’s race. Pioneerof the Nile’s odds also take a backseat to Dunkirk’s 9/2 and Friesan Fire’s 13/2 odds to win. Chocolate Candy rounds out the top 5 as a 14/1 long shot.
