Kentucky Derby 136 Odds: Backtalk 60/1 to win in 2010
Not many horses have been busier than Backtalk in the last year, but the competitive horse isn’t expected to be a factor in Saturday’s 2010 Kentucky Derby.
Backtalk has four wins since June of 2009 but none have come on the 1.25-mile course that it will see on Saturday. In fact, the longer the tracks, the more Backtalk has struggled.
Backtalk has 60/1 odds to win the 2010 Kentucky Derby according to oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com. Lookin at Lucky is the favorite to win at Churchill Downs this weekend at 7/2, while Sidney’s Candy has opening odds at 6/1.
The four wins for Backtalk in the last 12 months have come in races 1 mile in length or fewer, with three coming in races that were just five or six furlongs. None of its wins came against other serious Derby contenders, as the last win was on Jan. 26 in the mile-long Sportsman’s Paradise Stakes.
In it’s last race, Backtalk placed third in the 1.125-mile Illinois Derby, where it fell behind winner, and Derby contender, American Lion. Backtalk also placed eighth at the Breeder’s Futurity in October, losing to another Derby contender in Noble’s Promise. Backtalk also finished fourth to Dublin in the Hopeful-G1 back in September of 2009.
