Kentucky Derby 136 Odds: Contender Dublin 10/1 to win in 2010
One horse that is starting to gain attention as a sleeper in the 136th running of the Kentucky Derby is Dublin, who will compete this Saturday at Churchill Downs.
In his past three races, Dublin has finished no lower than third in any outing. That includes third place showings at the Arkansas Derby-G1 on April 10 and at the Rebel-G2 on March 13. He also finished second at the Southwest-G3 on February 20.
Dublin is 10/1 to win the 2010 Kentucky Derby according to oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com. Lookin at Lucky is the favorite to win at Churchill Downs this weekend at 2/1, while Sidney’s Candy has opening odds at 3/1.
While Dublin has finished in the money in each of his last three races, he’s lost to a couple of notable Kentucky Derby contenders. Line of David (20/1) and Super Saver (10/1) beat him at the Arkansas Derby, as did Lookin at Lucky and Noble’s Promise (10/1) at the Rebel. Conveyance, who has 18/1 odds to win the Kentucky Derby, beat Dublin in the Southwest.
Thus, if Dublin is going to make a good showing at this year’s Kentucky Derby, he’s going to have to beat out contenders that have already proven that they can edge him. That’s not to suggest he’s not a value at 10/1, it’s just something to keep in mind when placing your bets for Saturday’s action.
