Kentucky Derby 136 Odds: Discreetly Mine 30/1 Long Shot to Win
Discreetly Mine is hoping to parlay his strong running at the Risen Star into a win this Saturday at the 2010 Kentucky Derby. Let’s take a look at his odds.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made Discreetly Mine a 30/1 long shot to win the 136th running of the Kentucky Derby. His odds follow that of Lookin at Lucky, who is a 7/2 favorite, as well as Sidney’s Candy, who is 6/1 to win.
Discreetly Mine is coming off a fourth place showing at the Louisiana Derby, a race in which fellow Kentucky Derby contender Mission Impazible took home a victory. But Discreetly Mine’s victory at the Risen Star gives the 3-year-old colt hope heading into this weekend’s Derby.
While his performance at the Risen Star was noteworthy, Discreetly Mine will have a hard time emerging from the pack this weekend. The speed horse doesn’t seem like it belongs in this group and will likely be compromised by the front-runners.
That said, he was within 2 lengths of the winner when he finished fourth at the Louisiana Derby, so he was in the race. Still, his running style will probably cost him at Churchill Downs. He leads or presses rather than rally, his top Beyer was only a 92 and he’s had a long layoff.
Simply put, Discreetly Mine will have his hands full on Saturday.
