Kentucky Derby 136 Odds: Speed Horse American Lion 12/1 to Win
Fresh off a recent victory at the Illinois Derby, American Lion enters the 2010 Kentucky Derby as a 12/1 long shot to win at Churchill Downs this weekend.
With a time of 1:51.31, American Lion posted a victory at the Illinois Derby on April 3. That performance was encouraging seeing as how he lost to Sidney’s Candy (among others) in a fourth place showing at the San Felipe on March 13. In his two previous races prior to San Felipe, American Lion posted a third place showing at the Robert B. Lewis on February 13 and a first place finish at the Hollywood Prevue on November 21 of last year.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com have instilled American Lion as a 12/1 long shot to upset Lookin at Lucky, who is a 2/1 favorite to win the Kentucky Derby 136. The aforementioned Sidney’s Candy is 3/1 to win this weekend.
American Lion is one of the many speed horses that will compete this Saturday at Churchill Downs. His victory last week at the Illinois Derby was his first ever on dirt and his best race of his career. He’s a long striding 3-year-old colt that will need to learn how to grind out a victory if he expects to take first this weekend.
The 2010 Kentucky Derby takes place this Saturday at 6:14PM ET at Churchill Downs. For opening odds on all of the contenders, see below.
