Preakness 135 Odds – Jackson Bend 20-1 According to Oddmakers
After a brutal showing in the Kentucky Derby, Jackson Bend looks to rebound when he takes on the field at the 135th running of the Preakness Stakes on Saturday.
Race History
Jackson Bend finished 12th at the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago, which was a disappointing finish considering he was one of the sleeper contenders entering the race. Before that outing, however, he finished second in his three previous races, which included the G1 Wood Memorial on April 3, the G2 Fountain of Youth on February 20 and the G3 Holy Bull on January 23.
Opening Odds
Jackson Bend is a 20/1 long shot to win the 2010 Preakness, according to oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com. Super Saver has been made the opening favorite at 2/1, while Paddy O’prado is 3/1 and Lookin at Lucky is 4/1.
Early Analysis
We had high hopes for Jackson Bend two weeks ago at the Kentucky Derby and even thought he could finish in the money. But after his 12th place finish, we’ve tempered our expectations of the 3-year-old colt. That said, he has run a triple digit Beyer Speed Figure, can stalk the pace and has four starts already under his belt this year. His three consecutive runner up showings before the Kentucky Derby offer promise and at 20/1, he might be worth taking a shot on come Saturday at Pimlico.
