U.S. Open Odds to Win – Tiger Woods Favored By Oddsmakers
The second major of the 2010 Golf Season takes place this week as the 2010 U.S. Open begins on Thursday from Pebble Beach.
The Favorite
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction, Tiger Woods is a 9/2 favorite. Other short odds to win are Phil Mickelson (5/1), Lee Westwood (11/1), Rory McIlroy (14/1), and Padraig Harrington (14/1).
Previous U.S. Open Winners
The defending U.S. Open champion is Lucas Glover, who won at Bethpage Black with a score of 4-under. Glover has 60/1 odds to win this year’s event, but he has failed to win another tournament since last year’s Open. Tiger Woods is a three-time U.S. Open champion and he won the last U.S. Open at Pebble Beach with a record score of 12-under par. Retief Goosen is a two-time winner of this event, and he has 30/1 odds to win this year’s event.
2010 World Rankings
This event is not exclusive to the PGA Tour as it features the European Tour as well. Woods is still ranked No. 1 in the world while Mickelson is not far behind in second. With his win last weekend, Westwood is also getting close in third while Steve Stricker sits in fourth after getting as high as second earlier this year. Stricker has 30/1 odds to win this event.
2010 U.S. Open Info
The 2010 U.S. Open will start on Thursday, June 17 and will continue through the weekend. The tournament will be played at the Pebble Beach in Pebble Beach, California and the format will be stroke play. The par is 71 and the yardage is 7,040.
